We are hard pressed, on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down but not destroyed-Always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 NKJV

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. What treasure?

The Gospel is the treasure. It is carried about by the people of God. We are the body of Christ. The glorious God of creation lives in us and through us today!

We hear so often how important it is to surrender our hearts and lives to Jesus Christ. Why is it so important? So God can accomplish His purpose in us and through us!

When the Lord revealed Himself to Paul God sent Ananias to pray for him. God told Ananias, He (Paul) is a chosen vessel of Mine. I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.

Paul did suffer greatly for the Name of Christ. We all know that. I do not think any of us can explain exactly why he had to suffer so much. Peter’s suffering was shorter and less painful. John lived a long full life. So why did Paul have to suffer so much for his faith?

It does not matter why Paul had to suffer so much for the Gospel. What matters is how Paul suffered for the cause of Christ.

Paul suffered trials troubles and tribulations. Paul was not crushed beneath the weight of them. He was confused by them but never gave up hope. Paul was persecuted by men but never abandoned by God. He was beaten and left for dead but God sustained him!

Paul carried about the death of Jesus everywhere he went so the resurrected Christ could be manifested in him and through him everywhere he went!

Paul never did anything in his own strength or power. Almighty God lived in and through Paul to will and to do of His good pleasure!

You may be hard pressed on every side by trials troubles and tribulations today. You might be confused by them. But you do not have to be crushed by the weight of hardship. Do not give up hope. God has not abandoned you. Jesus will sustain you!

God lives in you and through you to will and to do of His good pleasure. It is His good pleasure to use you for His glory. It is God’s good pleasure to love you!

Do not give up, do not give out and do not ever give in. Surrender your heart and life to Jesus Christ so the Lord can use you to bring other people into the Body of Christ!

You are a chosen vessel of Jesus Christ. God can and will accomplish His purpose for your life. The Lord can use you for His glory and honor today!

Joyfor2day daily devotional goes out over the internet to thousands of people all over the world five days a week

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!

Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out that very hour. Acts 16:16-18 NKJV

The slave girl was speaking the truth. She was possessed by an evil spirit. The evil spirit was drawing people away from Christ!

This attack came as God’s servants went to prayer. The enemy of our souls attacks when we step out in faith. Satan seeks to distract us. He wants us to focus our attention on things other than Jesus.

The devil perverts the truth. He uses it against us. No one can serve two masters. This girl was speaking the truth about Paul and his companions while practicing witchcraft. When people claim to speak for God we must consider how they live.

The girl followed the disciples for several days before they cast the demon out of her. It is important for us to wait on the Lord before stepping out in faith. The bible tells us Paul was greatly annoyed by this girl. Paul was not fearful. The Lord was with Him!

Paul and Silas were put in jail. The owners of the slave girl were angry at the loss of income when the demon was cast out of her. While Paul and Silas were in jail they shared the gospel with the jailer. His entire household was saved.

God uses Satan’s attacks for His glory and our salvation!

Satan is a real being. He takes people captive to do his will. There really are demons who seek to destroy God’s people and bring destruction to our world.

We have nothing to fear from the devil or his demons when we live according to God’s will. We have nothing to fear from anyone or anything when we step out in faith to serve Jesus!

Jesus wants us to fear Him and Him alone. He wants us to know His power and authority are unequaled in all of creation.

God wants you share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people in your life. Jesus wants you to walk in great boldness because He is with you everywhere you go!

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!
