Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6 NKJV
David’s declaration of faith in God’s goodness reveals the desire of his heart. God blessed David. That does not mean he didn’t struggle. His life was full of conflict. David made mistakes. He sinned. It was a measure of his faith that he never wavered in his belief that the goodness and mercy of God would follow him all the days of his life. David did not judge the goodness and mercy of God by his circumstances. God is perfect and holy. Our circumstances do not affect Him in anyway shape or form. If they did He could not rule over creation in perfect wisdom and justice. Are you a born again disciple of Jesus Christ? If so the goodness and mercy of God will follow you all the days of your life. Do not judge God by your circumstances. Your circumstances do not affect God’s holiness and perfection. God loves you so much your sins failures and mistakes cannot separate you from His love and favor! Things David wrote have been used in songs sermons prayers and poems for centuries. The description of him being a person after God’s own heart should encourage us in our faith. David allowed the Lord to give him His heart. He allowed the Lord to fill his mind with God’s wisdom and desires. Nothing could stop David from seeking after the Lord. His sins and failures did not keep David from desiring intimate relationship with God. David never called himself a man after God’s own heart. The Lord did. David never attributed God’s favor to anything he could do in his own strength and wisdom. David attributed the Lord’s favor on his life to the goodness and mercy of God. The reality of God’s goodness and mercy is the reason David desired to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of his life! We can have the desire to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of our lives! We can believe the goodness and mercy of God will follow us all the days of our lives! Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. Jesus will give us what we need when we need it to serve Him. Give the Lord something to work with. Trust in the goodness and mercy of God. Set the desire of your heart on dwelling in the house of the Lord forever! www.joyfor2day.com www.facebook.com/Joyfor2dayDailyDevotional https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
