But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!” Acts 7:56-57 NKJV
Stephen was chosen to serve the people of God. He was full of faith and the Holy Spirit. The Lord used Stephen to perform great signs and wonders among the people. Men from the Synagogue of the Freedmen opposed Stephen. They could not overcome his wisdom. They found men to give false witness against him. Stephen was seized and brought before the ruling council. The glory of God radiated from his face! Stephen answered the accusations of blasphemy. He preached the longest sermon in the book of acts. He accused the council and Jewish people of the same sins as their ancestors. He blamed them for killing Jesus! Stephen’s accusers were enraged. He was cast out of the city and stoned as he was calling on God saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Stephen knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” Then he fell asleep. Do signs and wonders occur today? I have witnessed miracles with my very own eyes! Why don’t we see them all the time? Maybe we just don’t recognize them! God put gas in my car when we were stranded in the dessert. I saw a woman who was ensnared by sin walk home in faith. She was received with joy and thanksgiving by her family. I saw a man saved from death at the hands of the police. He was delivered from a prison sentence as well. At a church retreat I asked the Lord to take me into His presence. I went to sleep in faith. I spent the night in a place of limitless light. I did not see God but He was there! Miracles happen when people are full of faith and the Holy Spirit. Faith is not something we can turn off and on like a light switch. We are filled with the Spirit of God when we walk closely with Jesus. That relationship must be rooted and grounded in love devotion and obedience! You can be full of faith and the Holy Spirit. The power of God can be seen in your life. The glory of God can shine forth from your face as a testimony of your loving relationship with Jesus! Jesus is usually depicted as sitting at God’s right hand. Could it be the Lord was receiving Stephen with a standing ovation? Jesus will hold a great banquet to honor and bless the spotless bride He has been preparing throughout the ages. Do not miss it! Be full of faith and the Holy Spirit by walking closely with Jesus! www.joyfor2day.com www.facebook.com/Joyfor2dayDailyDevotional https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
