Yet the righteous will hold to his way, And he who has clean hands will be stronger and stronger. Job 17:9 NKJV Job is in pain. He lost his wealth. His children were killed. He was afflicted with a painful illness. His wife chose not to fight the good fight with him. His friends turned on him. Job believes God has been unfair to him. He pleads his innocence. God does not speak. No one offers comfort or support. Only words of condemnation and accusation. Job wishes for death. He cannot imagine his suffering will end any other way. This book is not fiction. It is not a parable or allegory. Job was a real man. Put yourself in his place as you read this book. Walk a mile in Job’s shoes. Job did not know God was allowing him to suffer for a reason. He did not know his suffering would eventually come to an end. He did not know God would restore all that he lost. He did not know his life would give glory to God. Job did not know people would learn about God’s character through his trial. He did not know his faith would encourage people throughout the ages. Job made an incredible declaration of faith in the goodness and mercy of God. He looked past his pain and suffering to the promises of God. He knew the heartache and sorrow of this world is temporary and fleeting. He knew the rewards of righteousness awaited Him! People all over the world are hurting today. You may be one of them. That is the nature of life in a fallen world. It is the result of sin. This world is not our home. Power has been ceded to an evil being. He cannot hurt God. He vents his anger on us. These circumstances are temporary. This world and all that it contains will pass away. God will make all things new. There will be no pain and suffering in the new heavens and new earth. There will be no sin. Satan will not be there. God does not want you to pretend all is well if it is not. He wants you to trust Him with your circumstances. He wants you to look past them. He wants you to trust Him to restore your strength when you are weak. He wants you to seek righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ! I am looking past my pain to the promises of a faithful God. Are you? I know the heartache and sorrow of this world is temporary and fleeting. Do you? Will you declare your faith in the goodness and mercy of God? Will you trust Jesus with your circumstances? Will you look past them? Will you trust Jesus to restore your strength when you are weak? Will you seek the rewards of righteousness rather than the fleeting pleasures of sin? You will if you know what awaits you in the eternal kingdom of God. Share the glory that awaits us in the eternal kingdom of God with someone who needs encouragement today! http://www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
