Whose beloved are you?

I am my beloved’s, And my beloved is mine. He feeds his flock among the lilies. Song of Solomon 6:3 NKJV

There is a place only lovers know. It is a place with a different reality. It is a place where we do things we would not normally do. We see things differently. A touch can change a heart. An embrace can bring healing. A kiss can change our world.

Our bodies change. Our hearts can grow cold and calloused. The cares of the world and busyness of life can intrude. We may be left wondering, where has love gone? That is when love must become a choice more than a feeling.

A glance a touch a memory or a simple act of love can bring back the passion that took us to a place we had never known. The place only true lovers know. The day I met Jesus He took me to a place I had never known.

Jesus gave me understanding of things I could not see with my eyes. The touch of God’s spirit changed my heart. His embrace healed my soul. His kiss transformed my world. I feel so deeply in love with Jesus He was all I needed.

The prayer of my heart was for the Lord not to leave me to myself. I cried out to God to put His desires in my heart. I asked him to grant the desires He put in my heart. I was sold out for Jesus!

The cares of the world and the busyness of life intruded. In a time of blessing and prosperity I began trusting in my own resources rather than God’s. I leaned on my own wisdom and understanding instead of turning to the Lord for guidance and direction.

Over time my heart grew cold and calloused. Where was Jesus when I need Him? Did He stop loving me? Had He gone away and left me to myself?

Jesus was right where He has always been. Working in my heart and life to draw me away to a place only He and I know. It is the place where He waters the sheep that have strayed. It is a place of such intimate beauty each of us describe it differently.

The touch of God’s spirit softened my heart. His embraced massaged my soul. His kiss aroused my passion. I am my beloved’s. My beloved’s is mine. He feeds his flock among the lilies!

Jesus wants you to be in love with Him today. Don’t let the cares of this fallen world or the busyness of a meaningless life intrude in your relationship with the Lord. You do not want to be left wondering where the passion of your first love went!

Your love affair with Jesus must be based on a choice rather than a feeling. Feelings come and go. Jesus with never leave you. Whose beloved are you? Is it the one who feeds His flock among the lilies? Or is it another?

Today I choose Jesus because He chose me!

Joyfor2day daily devotional goes out over the internet to thousands of people all over the world five days a week

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!

Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out that very hour. Acts 16:16-18 NKJV

The slave girl was speaking the truth. She was possessed by an evil spirit. The evil spirit was drawing people away from Christ!

This attack came as God’s servants went to prayer. The enemy of our souls attacks when we step out in faith. Satan seeks to distract us. He wants us to focus our attention on things other than Jesus.

The devil perverts the truth. He uses it against us. No one can serve two masters. This girl was speaking the truth about Paul and his companions while practicing witchcraft. When people claim to speak for God we must consider how they live.

The girl followed the disciples for several days before they cast the demon out of her. It is important for us to wait on the Lord before stepping out in faith. The bible tells us Paul was greatly annoyed by this girl. Paul was not fearful. The Lord was with Him!

Paul and Silas were put in jail. The owners of the slave girl were angry at the loss of income when the demon was cast out of her. While Paul and Silas were in jail they shared the gospel with the jailer. His entire household was saved.

God uses Satan’s attacks for His glory and our salvation!

Satan is a real being. He takes people captive to do his will. There really are demons who seek to destroy God’s people and bring destruction to our world.

We have nothing to fear from the devil or his demons when we live according to God’s will. We have nothing to fear from anyone or anything when we step out in faith to serve Jesus!

Jesus wants us to fear Him and Him alone. He wants us to know His power and authority are unequaled in all of creation.

God wants you share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people in your life. Jesus wants you to walk in great boldness because He is with you everywhere you go!

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!
