But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
For we say to you by the Word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 NKJV Is God telling us we should not mourn our loved ones who have passed into eternity? The Apostle John lived a long life. He had to be carried into meetings when the faithful gathered. When asked if he had anything to say John repeated the words, “Little children love one another over and over again!” When asked why John said, “Because when done it is enough!” Jesus said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” Jesus wants us to love each other as much as He does. How could He expect us to love each other so deeply and not be impacted by the separation and loss when people are taken from us? He does not! Jesus knows we are not robots. Jesus gave us the feelings and emotions that color our lives in shades of joy and mourning. God wants us to comfort each other with the truth that we will be reunited with our loved ones who have been taken from us. We will join them in eternity. They will be raised before us. They will be waiting to greet us in the image of Christ! When we are reunited with our loved ones our joy will be complete and unending. Our relationships will not be tainted by sin. We will love each other as much as Jesus does. It will be the greatest reunion ever. Jesus will be our host. We will gather around the banqueting table the Father prepared for us and partake of the Lord’s Supper with our Savior. Jesus has been waiting 2,000 years to host the great reunion of the redeemed! God knows your sorrow. He knows your pain. He does not expect you to keep a stiff upper lip or put on a happy face. Jesus wants to love you through seasons of heartache. He wants to comfort you in times of sorrow. Comfort each other with the hope that we will be reunited with our lives ones and spend eternity together with Jesus! www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
