And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17 NKJV
We can do anything for the glory of God. We can go to work for the glory of God. We can go to school for the glory of God. We can take care of our children and cook breakfast for the glory of God. When we do something in Jesus name we participate in His ministry. When we do something in Jesus name the Lord works out His good and perfect will in us and through us. Everything we do should be done in Jesus name! I walked out the door feeling pretty good today. God was speaking to me. I was looking for things I could do in Jesus name. I was looking for opportunities I could be thankful for. I was looking for opportunities to share the gospel with people who do knot know Jesus. It did not take long for my spiritual bubble to burst. My wife did something I thought was rude and disrespectful. I looked at this verse again. The context of this passage is the Character of the New Man. I said my wife was rude and disrespectful. I left out the part about calling her and giving her a piece of my mind. I forgot to mention that I hung up on her twice. I got so angry my eyes sting. My back is stiff and sore. God tells us to put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness and longsuffering. If we have a complaint against someone we should forgive them just as the Father forgave us. God makes it very clear this is not a suggestion by saying; “This you must do!” But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which you were called in one body, and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord. Vs 14-16 While I was blowing off steam at my wife I was not singing with grace in my heart to the Lord. I sinned. God wants to deal with my heart today. I am thankful God was bringing me to repentance even before I sinned. Jesus wants us to love people. He does not want us to love them because they are perfect. Jesus wants us to love people out of obedience to Him. When we love people we do it in Jesus name! The Lord is speaking to me again. He is saying get you’re stiff, sore back over there and ask your wife for forgiveness, in Jesus name! Let everything you do be done in Jesus name. Give thanks to God the father through Jesus Christ today! http://www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
