And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, What ails you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is. Genesis 21:17 NKJV
God kept His promise to Abraham. Sarah gave birth to a son. She named him Isaac. The conflict between Sarah and her handmaiden continued. Sarah told Abraham to send Hagar and her son away. God told Abraham to listen to his wife.
Abraham sent Hagar into the wilderness. When they ran out of food and water Hagar laid down. She expected die. God told her to lift her son and take him by the hand, “for I will make him a great nation”. Then God opened Hagar’s eyes and provided water for them.
Hagar was in a state of hopelessness and despair. She had given up. God could have spoken to Hagar sooner. He could have provided for their needs before they reached the point of hopelessness. God showed up at exactly the right time!
God’s timing is always perfect. He created time. God created us. He knows our needs better than we do. God knows what it takes for us to surrender to His will. He knows what it takes for us to trust Him.
When God spoke to Hagar the first thing He did is ask her, “What ails you”? I have gained a new appreciation for the way God shows up in our lives and asks questions.
The Lord does not ask questions because He needs answers. God ask questions to make us aware of our circumstances and needs. God wants us to be aware of our great need for Jesus.
God loves us unconditionally. He wants to meet all our needs today. Our greatest needs can only be met by Him through faith in Jesus!
God will allow us to wander in the wilderness of unbelief.
The Lord knows what it takes for us to surrender to His will. God knows what it takes for us to trust Him. God’s timing is always perfect. Trust Him to speak into your life at just the right time. Trust Jesus to open your eyes and provide for your needs!
Trust God to open your eyes and provide living water that will well up within you and pour into the lives of the people near you. God is trustworthy!
