By the Word of the Lord the heavens were made, And all the hosts of them by the breath of His mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deep in storehouses. Psalm 33:6-7 NKJV
This psalm speaks of the sovereignty of God in creation and history.
Many of us remember Carl Sagan. He was a renowned astronomer. He taught on the origins and wonders of the “cosmos.” His philosophy and following became a pseudo religion known as “Saganism.”
Mr. Sagan is no longer living. He has been replaced by Micho Kaku. He is much more entertaining. He is also just as wrong about the creation of the universe!
I like the word “cosmos.” It implies there is more to creation than we know or can comprehend.
There is an unseen realm as real as things we can see with our eyes and touch with our hands. It cannot be measured. It cannot be studied. Mankind can only grasp a glimpse of God’s marvelous creation from this side of eternity.
The greatest intellect of our time is Stephen Hawking. He said if aliens from other planets make contact with our planet they would destroy us. He also said experimenting with the “god particle” could unravel and destroy creation.
The pre-eminent intellect of our time has found common ground with boys playing war against unseen enemies and directors of blockbuster movies when he states the obvious. If there is life on other planets we should not allow them to emigrate to planet earth!
Mr. Hawking is so close to accepting a simple and easy to understand fact that can only be understood through eyes of faith. Jesus Christ is holding the universe and all it contains together!
I suppose if I had the intelligence to study the origins of the cosmos I might discover that a big bang did occur!
God spoke the cosmos into existence. The power of those words was so immense there is nothing to describe it or anything to compare it with. Big bang may not suffice but neither does any other explanation!
God wants us to be as little children who trust their Heavenly Father enough to take Him at His Word!
The God of the bible created the heavens and the earth. He created us to be loved by Him and to return His love. His love completes us. It makes us whole. His unseen hand holds all things together.
So often I discover these messages are for me as much as others who read them. As I set my heart on a new adventure I must trust God enough to believe every Word that proceeds from His mouth!
In what ways must you trust the Word of God more than ever before?
