“For this is he of whom it is written: ‘Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You.’ Matthew 11:10 NKJV
Jesus said; “Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.”
Have you ever felt like you are not doing enough for the Lord? Maybe you feel like the least effective witness for God among the people you fellowship with. Jesus has a word for you today. You may be greater than John the Baptist in His kingdom!
Jesus does not want us to compare ourselves with other people. He wants us to rejoice in their calling and fulfill ours!
John burst on to the scene calling people to repentance and announcing the coming of Christ. Soon after John baptized Jesus he was imprisoned and executed.
Jesus was restoring sight to the blind and healing the limbs of lame people. Lepers were cleansed. Deaf ears opened. People were raised from the dead. The gospel was preached to the poor in resources and spirit. John was not disappointed or envious. He completed the mission God gave him and went to his reward.
There are no second-class citizens in the kingdom of God!
No one who lives by faith in Jesus is an ineffective witness for the Savior. Some of us will serve God in obscurity. Others will stand before great crowds to magnify the Name of the Lord. Each of us was born to prepare the way for Jesus’ return by calling people to repentance!
John announced the first coming of the Lord. We are called to announce His second coming to our generation!
John dressed funny. He ate strange food. The words he spoke seemed strange to the people who heard them. God used him in a very powerful way.
People may think us odd if we live for Jesus. The words we use and the things we say may seem strange. God will use them in powerful ways if we step out in faith today. Call people to repentance and prepare for Jesus’ return!
That baby born two thousand years ago is a God of love and blessing. He came to restore all things. He came to save us from the wrath to come. He came to redeem us from the hand of evil.
Jesus is coming again. He will come as a conquering hero. He will bind evil. He will restore the hearts of children to their fathers and the hearts of fathers to their children.
Much time has passed. The message remains the same. Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand!
