The words of the Lord are pure words, Like silver tried in a furnace of earth, Purified seven times. You shall keep them, O Lord, You shall preserve them from this generation forever. Psalm 12:6-7 NKJV
David is destitute of human comfort. He craves help from God. He seeks the Lord’s judgment on wicked people. David knew the pain of loneliness. He experienced the sting of betrayal. The man with a heart after God had many enemies. Saul wanted to take David’s life. His first wife despised him. David’s son led a rebellion against him. Nations made war with Israel a personal battle against David. David held on to the truth of God’s Word regardless of his circumstances. If David had judged God for his hardships and trials he would be known as the double hearted man! Once again David begins a Psalm by crying out for help against evil. He lived in a world dominated by ungodly people. David was a man of war from his youth but knew he could not fight in his own strength. The king needed God to fight his battles for him. David won his greatest victories when he was out numbered and overmatched, when it was obvious he could not be victorious in his own strength. His defeats came when he went out in his own strength or disobeyed God’s commands. Do you know the pain of loneliness? Have you experienced the sting of betrayal? Do you feel like some of the people you love despise you? Maybe your children have rebelled against your teaching and instruction? You are not alone. Jesus knows exactly how you feel! Sometimes I feel like I have been a man of war since my youth. I have never been in a conventional war. I do feel like war has been waged against me. That is because we live in a world dominated by ungodly people. I have experienced the greatest victories when it seemed like all was lost. I suffered my greatest defeats when I was arrogant and overconfident, trying to succeed in my own strength and wisdom or disobeying God’s will for my life! We must hold on to the truth of God’s Word. We can’t focus on our circumstances. We must learn not to judge our relationship with God by our relations with other people. They will let us down. Jesus never will! This world is not our home. We live behind enemy lines. Do not be fearful. Do not worry. The words of Almighty God are true. They are more precious than fine silver. Nothing can stop Jesus from keeping His promises to us! God has preserved His word throughout the generations of man. Jesus is the Living Word of God. He is faithful and true. Put your faith in Jesus and you will persevere! www.joyfor2day.com www.facebook.com/Joyfor2dayDailyDevotional https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
