The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, In those who hope in His mercy. Psalm 147:11 NKJV
What does it mean to fear God? God told Abraham to offer his son as a burnt sacrifice. Abraham obeyed. The Lord said, “Now I know that you fear God.” Abraham was not so afraid of God He did not answer when the Lord spoke to Him. Abraham answered God in faith! To fear God is to hold Him in the utmost respect, to be in awe of Him. God’s power is frightening. God is so powerful righteous and holy no one can see Him and live. He holds the power of life and death. No matter how sly cute or crafty no one can manipulate the Lord. We cannot lie to Him, trick or con God. He knows everything! One day we will stand before the Lord and give an account for how we lived. God does not want to rule and reign over us to feed His ego. He is our Heavenly Father. He loves us as only a perfect God can. The Lord wants us love Him as only a perfect Heavenly Father can be loved! Why does God take pleasure in people who hope in His mercy? We have free will. God allows us to choose to receive His love or reject it. When we humble ourselves before Jesus He does not leave us to ourselves. He fights our battles. He meets our needs. Jesus nurtures, comforts and cares for us as only a loving God can! God is merciful because He loves us! Our relationship with God is not based on performance. We do not have to be perfect to earn His perfect love. God wants us to hope in His great mercy because He wants to live in a loving relationship with us regardless of what we have done. God wants us to accept Him as our Loving Heavenly Father just as He accepts us as His beloved children. God wants us to know He is the King of Heaven and Earth. We are the Kings Kids. The Lord wants us to live like we are His beloved children! If your father was a famous person you would tell everyone about Him. Your Heavenly Father holds the power of the universe in the palms of His hands. He can heel broken hearts and restore broken lives. Tell everyone you meet about Jesus! A healthy fear of God can keep us from sinful living. God’s unconditional love can give us the boldness to live for Him in a world that denies and opposes Jesus. Fear God enough to avoid sin. Love Him enough to serve Jesus! www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
