“Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings;
Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left. And your descendants will inherit the nations. And make the desolate cities inhabited.” Isaiah 54:2-3 NKJV

My teenage years were plagued by nightmares and demonic manifestations. Sometimes I was left wondering what was real and what wasn’t. Drug abuse and a history of witchcraft in my family opened a doorway to evil only Jesus could slam shut.

I found three instruction manuals on witchcraft. Each of them was different. All of them were evil. I burned them in an old hibachi grill. That night three demons dressed in traditional tribal garb came out of the darkness towards me.

I was frozen with fear as they grew closer and larger. I could not even speak. I was finally able to whisper the name of Jesus. A whisper became a cry for help. The demons retreated into the darkness. Was I dreaming? Was I attacked? I really don’t know.

I know I took a very naïve step of faith against evil. I pray God will give me the discernment and faith to do it again!

This week the families of murder victims gathered together to remember their beloved. Will it make a difference? I don’t know. I do know they shined the light on God’s love. They took a stand against the darkness. They walked in the victorious name of Jesus!

The name of Jesus is a light in the darkness! Jesus is not just a mighty warrior. He is the king of the fight!

Jesus has already defeated sin and death. The devil’s schemes and minions have already been overthrown. We do not yet see the victory. That does not make it any less a reality. We must learn to walk in Jesus’ victory. The hope we have in Jesus is a reality!

Jesus’ victory at Calvary crushed Satan’s head. We do not have to cower in fear of Satan. We can step out in faith with the boldness and assurance that Jesus is with us everywhere we go. He goes before us today. Jesus is our rear guard today!

Stretch out your hand to do all that Jesus puts in your heart. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes for the glory of God. If it’s biblical and lifts up the name of Jesus the Lord will be with you. If it’s biblical and blesses His people Jesus will equip you!

Jesus’ victory makes you a mighty warrior when you serve Him in faith!

We will not all be rich and famous. We can all be filled with the Spirit of God. We can serve God in His wisdom and power. We can serve Jesus by making His name famous among the people groups and nations of our world!

Because Jesus lived a sinless life, sacrificed Himself for our sin and rose again you can walk in victory today!

Joyfor2day daily devotional goes out over the internet to thousands of people all over the world five days a week

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!

Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out that very hour. Acts 16:16-18 NKJV

The slave girl was speaking the truth. She was possessed by an evil spirit. The evil spirit was drawing people away from Christ!

This attack came as God’s servants went to prayer. The enemy of our souls attacks when we step out in faith. Satan seeks to distract us. He wants us to focus our attention on things other than Jesus.

The devil perverts the truth. He uses it against us. No one can serve two masters. This girl was speaking the truth about Paul and his companions while practicing witchcraft. When people claim to speak for God we must consider how they live.

The girl followed the disciples for several days before they cast the demon out of her. It is important for us to wait on the Lord before stepping out in faith. The bible tells us Paul was greatly annoyed by this girl. Paul was not fearful. The Lord was with Him!

Paul and Silas were put in jail. The owners of the slave girl were angry at the loss of income when the demon was cast out of her. While Paul and Silas were in jail they shared the gospel with the jailer. His entire household was saved.

God uses Satan’s attacks for His glory and our salvation!

Satan is a real being. He takes people captive to do his will. There really are demons who seek to destroy God’s people and bring destruction to our world.

We have nothing to fear from the devil or his demons when we live according to God’s will. We have nothing to fear from anyone or anything when we step out in faith to serve Jesus!

Jesus wants us to fear Him and Him alone. He wants us to know His power and authority are unequaled in all of creation.

God wants you share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people in your life. Jesus wants you to walk in great boldness because He is with you everywhere you go!

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!
