“Do you not know this of old, Since man was placed on the earth, That the triumphing of the wicked is short, And the joy of the hypocrite is but for a moment?
Though his haughtiness mounts up to the heavens, And his head reaches to the clouds, Yet he will perish forever like his own refuse; Those who have seen him will say, “Where is he?” He will fly away like a dream, and not be found; Yes, he will be chased away like a vision of the night. The eye that saw him will see him no more, Nor will his place behold him anymore. His children will seek the favor of the poor, And his hands will restore his wealth. His bones are full of his youthful vigor, But it will lie down with him in the dust.” Job 20:4-11 NKJV Job’s friends are so focused on attacking and condemning him they ignore his incredible statement of faith. It is Zophar turn to spew venom at Job. Job said; For I know that my redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth; And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, That in my flesh I shall see God, Whom I shall see for myself, And my eyes shall behold, and not another. How my heart yearns within me! Job knows who his redeemer is, do you? Job is getting to know his redeemer better every day, are you? I know my redeemer lives. His name is Jesus. He is the Son of God. He is God. I cannot say I am getting to know Him better every day right now. There have been seasons when I did. I learned more about Jesus in seasons of adversity than any other time! Jesus was a man acquainted with sorrows. He is near to the brokenhearted. He saves people who have a contrite spirit. Jesus loves healing and restoring people who come to the end of themselves and call out to Him because they have nowhere else to turn! There is nothing to gain by walking through the valley of the shadow of death alone. A person who walks through that valley with Jesus learns things only the Lord can teach! Job’s friends cannot see the incredible growth taking place in his life. Job is learning to trust God in the midst of trial, heartache, pain and sorrow. Job is learning to see through eyes of faith. Job is learning to live with an eternal perspective. This world is not our home. Do not get too comfortable here. The tents we inhabit today will decay. The Lord will give us new glorious bodies. People who love Jesus will see Him stand upon the earth. Our redeemer lives! And so we will live in glory forever and ever! Stop and look back at how far Jesus has brought you. Rejoice and be glad. God is good. Jesus loves you. Our redeemer lives! Extend mercy and grace to the people around you. Jesus loves them as much as He loves you! http://www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
