Therefore, I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 2 Timothy 1:6 NKJV
Walking by faith in Jesus is an incredible experience. Trusting the Lord is never boring. It is an amazing adventure! Sometimes God has already given me a message to share. I sit down and type it out as fast as I can. Some days I feel like I have nothing of value to say. I feel like I’m in way over my head. I feel like I’m not qualified to write a daily devotional. I do not have anything of value to say. I am not qualified to write these devotionals. I am called to write them! How does God get me from feeling inadequate and unqualified to sending these messages out by? By faith, I pray! My prayer might be something like this; “Lord I ask you to put your thoughts in my heart and mind. I ask you to speak to me and through me. I ask you to give me a message that will encourage people and exhort them to serve Jesus.” I present myself to the Lord because I have seen my Pastor do it many times! Paul encourages Timothy to step out in faith and use the gifts God gave Him. Paul wants Timothy to exorcise his spiritual gifts so they can grow and bear fruit for the Kingdom of God. God gives us spiritual gifts so we can serve Him. They grow stronger when we step out in faith and use them for the glory of God. They grow weaker with inactivity. We are called to live in partnership with Jesus. He is the senior partner. We are the junior partners. God could do things differently. He could choose to work in us and through us without our cooperation. Jesus allows us to decide for ourselves if we will cooperate in the work of His kingdom. Paul gave Timothy clear instructions. He taught and trained Timothy. You may not have that type of relationship. You are being watched by someone. You should mentor someone. My pastor did not say, “when you sit down at your computer the first thing you should do is present yourself to the Lord so He can speak through you.” I just observed what he does before he teaches and did the same. Do you have a relationship with Jesus Christ? If so, God is calling you to disciple others! The Lord is calling you to encourage your brothers and sisters. Encourage them to stir up the spiritual gifts God gave them for His glory and honor. Set an example for other people by following Jesus Christ wherever He leads you! www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
