Sing aloud to God our strength; Make a joyful shout to the God of Jacob. Raise a song and strike the timbrel, The pleasant harp with the lute. Psalm 81:1-2 NKJV
This Psalm encourages us to praise God, exhorts us to remember the Lord and calls us to repent! All throughout the scriptures we are encouraged exhorted and instructed to worship God. It is not a request. It is a command. God wants our worship to come from a heart of love and devotion. He wants us to worship Him with joy and thanksgiving. Jesus does not want us to worship Him because we fear wrath and punishment. It is not a religious act to be checked off our to-do list. Worship is a blessing not a burden! I experienced an amazing time of intimacy with the Lord during a worship service. We were singing Lord I lift Your name on high. I was caught up by the Holy Spirit in worship. The words “I belong to my Father in heaven” came out of my mouth. I cried tears of joy. Jesus revealed His presence in my life that day. He confirmed my salvation! I had never seen anything like that happen before. I have never witnessed anything like it since. The amazing presence of God is something I will always desire. The memory of that that day is an anchor to my soul. I have tasted of the Lord and He is good! If you are a born again disciple of Jesus Christ you must have experienced His presence in unique ways. Remember the day God confirmed your salvation. Remember when His joy filled you to overflowing. Hold onto to those memories. Don’t ever let go of them! The word repent is probably not one of your favorite. It is not one of my favorite words. Maybe it should be. We repented, turned to Jesus and surrendered to Him when we were saved. We do not have to ask Jesus into our lives more than once. We do need to turn back to Him over and over again. We live in a world filled with images that provoke our sinful nature. We are surrounded by people who deny the Creators authority over His creation. The devil prowls around like a hungry lion seeking whom he may devour. It can be a struggle to live in a way that pleases Jesus. You will fail from time to time. Turn your heart back to the Lord. Do it whenever your attention has been drawn away from righteousness. Do not be discouraged. Jesus loves you all the time! We cannot defeat our enemies by ourselves. Praise God. The Lion of the Tribe of Judah already has. You are victorious in Jesus Christ today! www.joyfor2day.com www.facebook.com/Joyfor2dayDailyDevotional https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
