Our prayers give off a sweet aroma to Jesus!

Lord, I cry out to you; Make haste to me! Give ear to my voice when I cry out to You.  Let my prayer be set before you as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Psalms 141 NKJV

David prays for sincerity of heart and a pure conscience.

Prayer is not us speaking our desires into existence. It is not implementing the power of positive thinking. It is not just presenting a list of needs and wants to the Lord. Prayer should move our will and desires into alignment with God’s will and desire for our lives!

Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice wicked works with men who work iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies. Vs 3-4

David’s sinful nature waged war against his godly desires. That did not stop David from coming into agreement with God’s will. David set the course of his life. David trusted God to lead and guide him along the path of godliness. David trusted God to be sovereign over every area of his life!

Your sinful nature will war against your Godly desires. Come into agreement with Jesus. Set the course of your life. Trust Jesus to make your way. Trust Jesus to be Lord in every area of your life. Jesus will lead and guide you along the path God chose for you.

Let the righteous strike me; It shall be a kindness. And let him rebuke me; It shall be as excellent oil; Let my head not refuse it. Vs 5

God uses people to speak for Him. That is one of the reasons He calls us to stay in fellowship we each other. Receive a rebuke spoken in love and kindness with joy and thanksgiving. Jesus loves you. The Lord does not spoil His children. He disciples them!

But my eyes are upon You, O God the Lord; In You I take refuge; Do not leave my soul destitute. Vs 8

Prayer is intimate communication with God. We can pray anywhere anytime. No one can prevent us from praying. It is completely confidential. Prayer is an act of faith. It is an act of worship. God refers to our prayers as incense. They give off a sweet aroma pleasant and pleasing to the Lord!

Ask the Lord to fill your heart with godly desires. Jesus will hurry to meet with you. Your prayer will rise-up before Him like incense. Jesus will be pleased. You will be blessed.

Keep your eyes on Jesus. Run to Jesus when you do not know where to turn. Seek Jesus when feel lost and alone. Jesus will never leave you destitute of spirit.

If you set the course of your life on the path of serving Jesus you will be blessed today and throughout eternity!

Joyfor2day daily devotional goes out over the internet to thousands of people all over the world five days a week

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!

Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out that very hour. Acts 16:16-18 NKJV

The slave girl was speaking the truth. She was possessed by an evil spirit. The evil spirit was drawing people away from Christ!

This attack came as God’s servants went to prayer. The enemy of our souls attacks when we step out in faith. Satan seeks to distract us. He wants us to focus our attention on things other than Jesus.

The devil perverts the truth. He uses it against us. No one can serve two masters. This girl was speaking the truth about Paul and his companions while practicing witchcraft. When people claim to speak for God we must consider how they live.

The girl followed the disciples for several days before they cast the demon out of her. It is important for us to wait on the Lord before stepping out in faith. The bible tells us Paul was greatly annoyed by this girl. Paul was not fearful. The Lord was with Him!

Paul and Silas were put in jail. The owners of the slave girl were angry at the loss of income when the demon was cast out of her. While Paul and Silas were in jail they shared the gospel with the jailer. His entire household was saved.

God uses Satan’s attacks for His glory and our salvation!

Satan is a real being. He takes people captive to do his will. There really are demons who seek to destroy God’s people and bring destruction to our world.

We have nothing to fear from the devil or his demons when we live according to God’s will. We have nothing to fear from anyone or anything when we step out in faith to serve Jesus!

Jesus wants us to fear Him and Him alone. He wants us to know His power and authority are unequaled in all of creation.

God wants you share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people in your life. Jesus wants you to walk in great boldness because He is with you everywhere you go!

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!
