Obedience to The Word of God separates the wise from the foolish!

And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. Genesis 2:25 NKJV

God created Adam the first man. He created Eve the first woman from one of Adam’s ribs. God created them to live together in the Garden of Eden. He created them to love each other. God created them to be loved by Him and to return His perfect love.

Sin and death had not yet entered the world. Adam and Eve lived a simple life that was based on God’s great love for them. They trusted God to meet their needs. They did not know they were naked because God had not told them they were naked.

Why is it significant that they were naked and unaware of it? Adam and Eve accepted God’s definition of good and what is evil. They did not lean on their own understanding for moral guidance. They did not decide for themselves what is good and what is evil.

Eve saw that the tree was desirable to make one wise. She took the fruit and ate it. She gave the fruit to her husband. He ate it. God told them not to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They disobeyed. They ate from the tree. They sinned!

Their eyes were opened. Adam and Eve realized they were naked. They began to make their own moral judgments. They became separated from God. They no longer depended on God for guidance and direction. They no longer accepted His definition of good and evil.

Adam and Eve began to live as if they had more wisdom and knowledge than God. They lived as though they could make better decisions for themselves than God could.

People all over the world are living as Adam and Eve did after they became separated from God. They live like they have more knowledge and wisdom than God. They believe they have better resources to make decisions that the Lord!

God’s greatest judgement is to leave us to ourselves. If God turned His back on us that would be the greatest punishment He could inflict on us. God did not leave Adam and Eve to themselves. He did not turn His back on them. He will never turn His back on us!

The Lord is pleading with us to turn back to Him for guidance and direction. God is saying come let us reason together. He is drawing us back into relationship with Him in loving-kindness. The way back to relationship with God is through His Son Jesus!

The Lord made a way for us to be restored to a loving relationship with Him today. Jesus Christ is the way to eternal life with God the Father. Jesus Christ is the doorway that leads into the presence of God!

The greatest blessing of God is to live our lives according to His good and perfect plan for our lives. Choose wisdom. Choose to obey the Word of God through faith in Jesus!

Joyfor2day daily devotional goes out over the internet to thousands of people all over the world five days a week

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!

Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out that very hour. Acts 16:16-18 NKJV

The slave girl was speaking the truth. She was possessed by an evil spirit. The evil spirit was drawing people away from Christ!

This attack came as God’s servants went to prayer. The enemy of our souls attacks when we step out in faith. Satan seeks to distract us. He wants us to focus our attention on things other than Jesus.

The devil perverts the truth. He uses it against us. No one can serve two masters. This girl was speaking the truth about Paul and his companions while practicing witchcraft. When people claim to speak for God we must consider how they live.

The girl followed the disciples for several days before they cast the demon out of her. It is important for us to wait on the Lord before stepping out in faith. The bible tells us Paul was greatly annoyed by this girl. Paul was not fearful. The Lord was with Him!

Paul and Silas were put in jail. The owners of the slave girl were angry at the loss of income when the demon was cast out of her. While Paul and Silas were in jail they shared the gospel with the jailer. His entire household was saved.

God uses Satan’s attacks for His glory and our salvation!

Satan is a real being. He takes people captive to do his will. There really are demons who seek to destroy God’s people and bring destruction to our world.

We have nothing to fear from the devil or his demons when we live according to God’s will. We have nothing to fear from anyone or anything when we step out in faith to serve Jesus!

Jesus wants us to fear Him and Him alone. He wants us to know His power and authority are unequaled in all of creation.

God wants you share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people in your life. Jesus wants you to walk in great boldness because He is with you everywhere you go!

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!
