“Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will be no means enter it.” Luke 18:17 NKJV
The kingdom of God belongs to the children of God! Small children trust parents to show them the difference between right and wrong. Children look to parents as examples and role models. They receive good gifts with joy and excitement. Small children eagerly desire to spend time with the parents they love. When my son was young he would sneak away from the rest of the family to cuddle up and take a nap with me. Few things have ever given me more joy! God wants us to trust Him to teach us what is good and what is evil. Jesus wants to be our example and role model. He wants us to receive His good gifts with joy and excitement. Jesus wants us to sneak away from worldly distractions and spend time with Him today! When I was sixteen my grandfather asked me to attend a retreat. Out of love and respect I agreed to go. People I did not even know shared the love of God with me. I’ve spent the rest of my life wondering if God spoke to me that weekend. I was blessed to be with my grandfather before his body gave out. He was suffering in pain. I asked if he wanted me to pray for him. As I finished praying he looked past me and exclaimed in Spanish, “Look how fast they come when you pray!” I do not know what my grandfather saw that day. I do not know if the Lord spoke to me at a retreat. I do know I always looked at my grandfather through loving eyes. He was the best man I ever knew. I loved him the way only a small child can! Our Heavenly Father longs for us to look at Him through loving eyes! There are times when I struggle to share my love for God. It is something only people who have been touched by Jesus can comprehend. The child in me loves God because He first loved me. It is like the love I feel for my grandfather. The Lord and I have history together just as me and grandpa did. Jesus raised me up out of sin and placed me in a family where I feel loved and accepted. The man in me is forced to choose between the love of God and the sin that dwells within me. I choose the Lord! Will you? Trust God to declare what is good and what is evil. Jesus wants to be your role model. Receive His good gifts with joy and excitement. Sneak away from the distractions of this fallen world. Spend time with Jesus today. Love your Heavenly Father as only His children can! http://www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
