And at the end of the time I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever: For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, And His Kingdom is from generation to generation. Daniel 4:34 NKJV
Nebuchadnezzar was the most powerful man alive. He was given a prophetic dream. It was interpreted by Daniel a Hebrew captive. Nebuchadnezzar would be driven insane. He would be stripped of his kingdom and power. He would live like an animal in the field. God told Nebuchadnezzar his Kingdom would eventually be restored to him. Everything happened exactly as God foretold. The king of the most powerful nation in the world was humbled by Almighty God. God judged Nebuchadnezzar for the sin of Idolatry (he served false gods), for the sin of gluttony (he lived a life of extreme luxury), and for the sin of pride (he commanded his people to worship him). On the day Nebuchadnezzar lifted his eyes to heaven his understanding returned to him and he “blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever.” God restored Nebuchadnezzar to his former glory. Nebuchadnezzar was already suffering from a type of insanity. He thought he was in total control of his destiny. He believed he was beyond the reach of any authority or power. Nebuchadnezzar believed he could do anything he wanted anytime he wanted. Nebuchadnezzar’s insanity and restoration was a blessing. God revealed himself to the King. God placed Nebuchadnezzar on his throne. God proved He could remove him at any time. God showed the king he was not in total control of his destiny. He was not beyond the reach of God’s power and authority. He could not do anything he wanted anytime he wanted! The Lord revealed Himself as merciful loving and forgiving even to the ungodly. Only God knows why some calamities occur. Only God knows why He allows them. God wants to free us from the bondage of unbelief (insanity) today. He wants to free us from pride, arrogance and self-reliance. We are not beyond the reach of God’s power and authority. God wants to reveal Himself as a loving merciful and forgiving Heavenly Father today. God will allow calamity into our lives. He will also deliver us from or through calamity if we lift our eyes to heaven and call out to Him. Give glory praise and honor to the Most High today! http://www.joyfor2day.com www.facebook.com/Joyfor2dayDailyDevotional https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
