“The light of the wicked indeed goes out, And the flame of his fire does not shine. Job 18:5 NKJV
Bildad scolds Job for his presumption of innocence and being impatient. He argues evil people always suffer calamity.
Some denominations teach that we can reach a state of total obedience to God. They believe we can be totally free of sin. Some teach if we walk in obedience to God we will never get sick or injured. I have even heard people say we can avoid death completely.
Even Godly people sin. Any thought deed or desire that misses the mark of total submission to God is sin. Job sinned. He was not a sinner. He trusted the Lord with His life. He still suffered loss heartache and pain.
Only one man never sinned. His name is Jesus. He is the Son of God. He is God. The scriptures say it is appointed unto man once to die. The death rate is 100%.
Bildad is over spiritualizing. He knows the world is full of evil people. He sees some of them prosper. He still believes only evil people suffer, why?
Bildad forgets that we are eternal beings. This life is not the end of our existence. Godly people will live in the light of God’s love throughout eternity. Evil people will live in the darkness of separation from God forever.
If Godly people sin it only make sense that we would be affected by sin!
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. That does not mean we walk around with our eyes closed. Our faith in God is based on truth. Our faith is historical. There is evidence to support it.
We should not be so heavenly minded we cannot keep our feet on the ground. Godly people get sick and injured. People who live by faith in Christ suffer calamity all over the world every day. People who love Jesus will move from this world into His presence.
God’s people never suffer needlessly. Jesus brings purpose from our pain. We never go through hardship alone. He is always with us. The Lord walks us through the pitfalls of life in a fallen world. God uses everything for His glory and our good!
Each of us has a different cup to drink from. Your calling may involve more pain and loss than others. Give glory to God. You may stand before large crowds and call people to repent and turn to Jesus. Praise the Lord!
We were created for much more than just the daily struggle of life in a fallen world. People who trust Jesus will walk upon the celestial shores. We will drink from the river of life. Our earthly lives will fade from view. All that will matter is; did we live for Jesus?
Let the light of your faith in God shine while you can!
