Jesus wants you to spend time with Him today. Will you answer the call of your beloved?

My beloved spoke, and said to me; “Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.
For lo, the winter is past, the rain is gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.
The fig tree puts forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grapes give a good smell. Rise up, my love, my fair one, And come away!” Song of Solomon 2:10-13 NKJV

Solomon called to his beloved on a beautiful spring day.

Winter passed. The rain stopped. Flowers were in bloom. Birds were singing. Sumptuous fruits were in season. The smell of newness was in the air. It was a perfect day for Solomon and his love to steal away. It was a great time to get lost in love.

Spring is my favorite time of the year. The best fruits and vegetables are available. The days get longer and warmer. My energy level increases. I wake up early so I can see the sun rise as I write these messages.

More than anything I love the spring because it is when Jesus called my name!

The winter of 1992 was one of the worst seasons of my life. My heart was broken. I felt abandoned and alone. I was depressed. I turned to wicked people for help. I did evil things to numb the pain. I narrowly survived a dangerous ordeal. I almost ended up in prison.

I do not know If I would have turned to Jesus in the spring of 1993 if the winter of 1992 had not been so tumultuous!

If rain did not fall in the winter flowers would not bloom in the spring. The earth would dry up. It would stop producing fruit. God designed every season of life for a purpose.

“O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the cleft, Let me see your face, Let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet, And your face is lovely.” Vs 14

Solomon calls to his beloved. He wants to know everything about her. He wants to hear her lovely voice. He wants to see her weather-beaten face. She is beautiful to him.

Jesus knows everything you have ever done. He knows everything you say, do and think. Jesus knows everything about you. That does not stop Jesus from loving you!

It does not matter what the weather is like. It does not matter what this season of life holds for you. Jesus wants you to rise-up and present yourself before Him today. Jesus wants to hear your lovely voice. Jesus wants you to seek His glorious face.

Jesus is the discerner of hearts. What does the Lord see in your heart today? Does He see a beloved who wants to slip away into His arms of love!

Jesus wants you to steal away and spend time with Him today. Will you answer the call of your beloved?

Joyfor2day daily devotional goes out over the internet to thousands of people all over the world five days a week

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!

Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out that very hour. Acts 16:16-18 NKJV

The slave girl was speaking the truth. She was possessed by an evil spirit. The evil spirit was drawing people away from Christ!

This attack came as God’s servants went to prayer. The enemy of our souls attacks when we step out in faith. Satan seeks to distract us. He wants us to focus our attention on things other than Jesus.

The devil perverts the truth. He uses it against us. No one can serve two masters. This girl was speaking the truth about Paul and his companions while practicing witchcraft. When people claim to speak for God we must consider how they live.

The girl followed the disciples for several days before they cast the demon out of her. It is important for us to wait on the Lord before stepping out in faith. The bible tells us Paul was greatly annoyed by this girl. Paul was not fearful. The Lord was with Him!

Paul and Silas were put in jail. The owners of the slave girl were angry at the loss of income when the demon was cast out of her. While Paul and Silas were in jail they shared the gospel with the jailer. His entire household was saved.

God uses Satan’s attacks for His glory and our salvation!

Satan is a real being. He takes people captive to do his will. There really are demons who seek to destroy God’s people and bring destruction to our world.

We have nothing to fear from the devil or his demons when we live according to God’s will. We have nothing to fear from anyone or anything when we step out in faith to serve Jesus!

Jesus wants us to fear Him and Him alone. He wants us to know His power and authority are unequaled in all of creation.

God wants you share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people in your life. Jesus wants you to walk in great boldness because He is with you everywhere you go!

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!
