Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! Psalm 105 NKJV
Do you struggle with being thankful at times? I do! When circumstances intrude upon my intimacy with God I remember why I’m thankful. The obvious reasons are my family, job, health and a place to live. What if no one loved me? What if I was unemployed sick and homeless? Could I be thankful? Could you? God loved and cared for Israel. He protected them. He provided for them. He led them into a land flowing with milk and honey. He also tested chastised and punished them. His hand was soft and gentle at times. It was also heavy and harsh at times. He is the Lord our God; His judgments are in all the earth. He remembers His covenant forever, The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations, The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac, To Israel as an everlasting covenant, Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan as the allotment of your inheritance,” When they were few in number, Indeed very few, and strangers in it. Vs 7-12 God is Lord of the living and the dead. None escape His judgment. He punishes sin and wickedness. Sometimes His punishment is delivered through pain suffering and circumstances. Sometimes He delivers the blows of discipline that bend our will to His! The Lord also forgives sin and wickedness. In ancient Israel He remembered His covenant with the man of faith and His offspring. He gathered together a people under His hand of love and protection. God led them into the land of promise. God remembers His covenant with people who live by faith in Jesus today. He is gathering people to receive an everlasting inheritance in the eternal land of promise. We can live under His hand of love and protection throughout eternity! God is with you today just as He was with Abraham Isaac and Jacob in biblical times. You can call upon Him for any reason. You can make His great deeds known to the people in your world! Do you have reason to be thankful 2019? The God who created the universe and all that it contains loves you! I am thankful for God’s love. Are you? The Lord owns everything everywhere. What does He want more than anything? He wants your love and adoration.
