Jesus wants us to know who He is and who He created us to be!

There are diversities of gifts but the same spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works in all. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 NKJV

As a drug and alcohol counselor in a state prison I was required to enforce the rules of the program. Most of the men in the program were not in the habit of obeying rules. One client gave me a difficult time day after day.

The Lord showed me he was raised in a Christian home. His demeanor and attitude changed when I shared with him what God showed me.

The Lord sent me into that prison to encourage men in their faith. He has not forgotten them. They are much more than their current circumstances reveal. When I offered encouragement, it softened their hearts. I have the gift of encouragement.

I also have the gift of discernment. I recognize the voice of God when He speaks to me. I have the gift of prophecy. I speak forth the Word of God as it is given to me. God is using these gifts to draw people to Jesus. He is using them to save people.

How do I know I have these gifts? The Word of God tells me so. You do not have to be a Pastor, Priest, or Theologian, to serve Jesus. The Lord can use you for His glory and honor today. Jesus can use you to reach lost, lonely, and brokenhearted people!

God is using me. I am not a spiritual superhero. Neither are you. That does not mean we cannot be students of God’s Word. Jesus wants us to spend time in His Word today. The Lord wants us to spend time with Jesus every day!

God’s Word reveals His character. It reveals who the Lord created us to be. The Word of God prepares us to serve Jesus. Study the Word of God. Know the Word of God. Obey the Word of God!

If you are a Pastor Priest or Theologian I praise God for you. Thank you for your commitment to study and show yourself approved. Thank you for serving Jesus.

If you are banker, baker, candlestick maker or even unemployed go forth in the strength of Jesus. Step out in faith. Serve God. If you are a born-again child of the Living God you have the credentials to serve Jesus!

You are a Royal Priest of the God Most High. You are the Lord’s Ambassador to your family, friends, and neighbors!

Do not hide the light of God’s love under the fear of rejection or failure. Use the gifts of the Holy Spirit to encourage people who have fallen so they can get back in the race. Follow the Holy Spirit to the people He wants to reach with the Gospel of grace!

Almighty God has appointed you to represent Jesus everywhere you go!

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!

Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out that very hour. Acts 16:16-18 NKJV

The slave girl was speaking the truth. She was possessed by an evil spirit. The evil spirit was drawing people away from Christ!

This attack came as God’s servants went to prayer. The enemy of our souls attacks when we step out in faith. Satan seeks to distract us. He wants us to focus our attention on things other than Jesus.

The devil perverts the truth. He uses it against us. No one can serve two masters. This girl was speaking the truth about Paul and his companions while practicing witchcraft. When people claim to speak for God we must consider how they live.

The girl followed the disciples for several days before they cast the demon out of her. It is important for us to wait on the Lord before stepping out in faith. The bible tells us Paul was greatly annoyed by this girl. Paul was not fearful. The Lord was with Him!

Paul and Silas were put in jail. The owners of the slave girl were angry at the loss of income when the demon was cast out of her. While Paul and Silas were in jail they shared the gospel with the jailer. His entire household was saved.

God uses Satan’s attacks for His glory and our salvation!

Satan is a real being. He takes people captive to do his will. There really are demons who seek to destroy God’s people and bring destruction to our world.

We have nothing to fear from the devil or his demons when we live according to God’s will. We have nothing to fear from anyone or anything when we step out in faith to serve Jesus!

Jesus wants us to fear Him and Him alone. He wants us to know His power and authority are unequaled in all of creation.

God wants you share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people in your life. Jesus wants you to walk in great boldness because He is with you everywhere you go!

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!

Jesus wants us to know who He is and who He created us to be!
