By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. John 15:8 NKJV
God created Adam to live in intimate relationship with Him. He placed Adam in the Garden of Eden to work and maintain it. He allowed Adam to name the animals. He gave Adam authority over them. Adam had a personal relationship with God. God told Adam he could eat the fruit of any tree in the garden except for one. Adam and Eve disobeyed God. They ate the forbidden fruit. They gained the knowledge of good and evil. The first thing they did was hide their nakedness from God. They stopped trusting the Lord to instruct them in the difference between good and evil. God asked Adam if he ate from the forbidden tree. Adam blamed Eve. Eve blamed the serpent. Adam never repented. God removed them from the garden. The relationship they enjoyed with God was severed. The entire human race was alienated from the Lord. God chose David to be the King of Israel. He was rich and powerful. He could have had just about anything he wanted including wives and concubines. David committed adultery. When the woman became pregnant David murdered her husband. From a limited human perspective David’s sin seems much worse than Adam’s sin. When David’s sin was exposed he confessed. He repented. He did not blame his sin on anyone. David allowed God to determine what is good and what is evil. David suffered consequences for his sin. But God referred to David as a man after His own heart. God promised David would not fail to have a son sit on the throne of Israel. The Messiah came from David’s family line! The dictionary defines a disciple as; one who accepts and follows a teacher or a doctrine; a pupil or a learner. Adam did not allow God to instruct him in the difference between good and evil. He led mankind away from the Lord. David was teachable. He led the nation of Israel to God. The Lord blessed David! Jesus wants you to be His disciple. There are many things Jesus wants to teach you and show you. Will you open your heart to the Lord? Will you allow Jesus to instruct you in the difference between good and evil? Will you glorify the Lord by bearing fruit for the kingdom of God? www.joyfor2day.com #Joyfor2daydailydevotional www.facebook.com/Joyfor2dayDailyDevotional https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day
