And He said, Let Me go, for the day breaks. But he said, I will not let You go unless You bless me! So, He said to him, What is your name? He said, Jacob. And He said, Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed. Genesis 32:26-28 NKJV
Our relationship with God can be described as a struggle. We struggle in different ways at different times. We may struggle to live according to God’s perfect plan for our lives. We may struggle in our meager attempts at trusting God with our lives. The same God who wrestled with Jacob wants us to grab a hold of Him today. God wants us to hold on to Him so He can bless us! Today a friend asked if I had a word for Him. The word I had for him was prosperity of spirit. Jesus wants to bless us today just as He blessed Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Jesus wants to bless us with the true riches of His Kingdom. Jesus wants to bless us with prosperity of spirit. My definition of prosperity of spirit is to be filled with the joy of the risen Lord regardless of the trials, troubles and tribulations we face! Jacob wrestling with God reminds me of my daily struggle with the sovereignty of God. I know God is sovereign. I know God has ultimate authority over all things in the heavens above and on the Earth below. My struggle is with my circumstances. I know God can change them at any time. I pray often for God to change my circumstances. Quite often He does not. The Lord knows that we will struggle with His sovereignty and authority over all things. He knows we will struggle with the circumstances of our daily lives. Jesus wants us to hold on to Him as we struggle with the trials, troubles and tribulations of life in a fallen world. Jesus wants us to know He will bless us with prosperity of spirit if we trust him enough to hold on to Him in faith! Trust Jesus today to get you through tomorrow so you can share the love of God with people who desperately need to know how much Jesus loves them! http://www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
