Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck. I sink in deep mire, Where there is no standing; I have come into deep waters, Where the floods overflow me. I am weary with my crying; My throat is dry; My eyes fail while I wait for God. Psalm 69:1-3
This psalm is an urgent plea for help from God. Why do so many of the Psalms focus on David’s cries for help? Why does he always seem to be so desperate? Why do I focus so much on David’s cries for help? Because the Lord does! God allowed David to be overcome with opposition because it drove him to the Lord. David’s natural tendency was to rely on his own strength and ingenuity. David learned to trust God through trials and hardship. A preacher was delivering a message on the importance and power of prayer. I heard an angelic choir. God pulled back the veil. Jesus allowed me to hear His servants worship Him. Why would the Lord do that for me? God verified the message delivered by His servant. Jesus wants me to gain a greater understanding of the importance and power of prayer. He wants me to pray with greater confidence and boldness. He also reminded me of something that happened years ago. My unsaved father was dying of ALS. We began praying for him with greater urgency. I prayed in the spirit as my wife and I drove down the road in silence. The Lord spoke to me. He said, “Your father is saved.” When we arrived at our destination a group of people were looking up. It was a beautiful day with just one small cloud in the sky. It was adorned with the colors of the rainbow. It was a sign. God confirmed that He spoke to me. He was revealing that my father would be saved. A short time later dad gave his life to Jesus! My father could not move from the neck down. He could not eat drink or speak. He was stuck in miry clay. His throat was dry, his eyes were weary from crying. Jesus saved him. He passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord. My father and I will spend eternity together in perfect love! God will allow you to be overcome by circumstances. Trust Jesus with your trials and hardship. He will lift you up out of the miry clay. When pain and sorrow floods over your life Jesus will be there to save you! God wants you to gain a greater understanding of the importance and power of prayer. He wants you to pray with greater confidence and boldness than ever before. Jesus wants you to remember the times He answered your prayers. Jesus never grows tired of your cries for help! www.joyfor2day.com www.facebook.com/Joyfor2dayDailyDevotional https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
