Lord, You have been favorable to Your land; You have brought back the captivity of Jacob. Psalm 85 NKJV
Written during a setback in the fortunes of Israel, this psalm recalls the deeds of God in the past, reflects on the present, and provides assurance of deliverance in the future.
The first paragraph of this message came from a commentary in my bible. It could just as easily have been written by me. It clearly communicates my walk of faith.
God’s interaction with the nation of Israel was characterized by wondrous works and amazing miracles since He first called Abraham.
Our God is the same yesterday today and tomorrow. My walk of faith has been characterized by wondrous works and amazing miracles since the day God first called me!
I will hear what God the Lord will speak, For He will speak peace to His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to folly. Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, That glory may dwell in our land. Vs 8
The Lord spoke to His people throughout their history. Unfortunately, they did turn back to folly. God forgave them. He brought them back into the land of promise. So much pain and suffering could have been avoided if they headed His voice!
I see before me the road that leads to blessing and prosperity. I also see a road that leads to pain and suffering. One is the road less traveled. It is narrow and straight. I cannot see the end of that road. I do know it leads to blessing and prosperity of sprit!
The other road is well traveled. It is a wide and windy road. There are golden mile markers filled with cheap thrills and fleeting pleasures. The end lies in darkness. I could walk that road. God would forgive me. I don’t know when the pain and suffering would end.
Righteousness will go before Him, And shall make His footsteps our pathway. Vs 13
Restlessness and discontent are twin sisters. They are rarely separated. Searching for the answers to every possible outcome leads to overreacting and making matters worse.
The Lord tells us to be still and know that He is God. There are times when waiting is the greatest step of faith we can take. Your future is in God’s hands. He can handle it. Trust Him with it!
The light of God’s righteousness surrounds Him. He will light up our path with His love so we do not stumble if we follow Him!
If you follow Jesus you will never get lost!
