And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as sons; “My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives. Hebrews 12:5-6 NKJV
A loving parent would not let a child do what he thinks is right. Failure to teach the difference between right and wrong is neglect. We discipline our children because we love them. As they grow older we let them make mistakes they can learn from. Jesus disciplines us because He loves us. The Lord never leaves us to ourselves. Jesus promises to correct us when we need correction. He does allow us to make mistakes so we can learn from them. Jesus knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows exactly what we need when we need it. There are Christians who think God will deliver us from every hardship and trial. They think God wants everyone to be rich and famous. They believe God will always bless us in the way we want. Jesus will never abandon us in our time of need. He will be with us as we struggle through trial and hardship. We do not have to face them alone. Jesus allows us to experience pain so we can grow and mature. That is His true goal for our lives. Jesus wants us to be rich in mercy and grace. He wants us to be richly blessed by our faith in Him. Jesus wants us to experience the abundant life of spiritual prosperity. If Jesus gives us what we want all the time we would become spoiled and lazy. Jesus wants us to experience legitimate suffering. Legitimate suffering is working or sacrificing to achieve a goal or attain something of value. Jesus wants us to understand the principle of suffering to receive the greatest prize of all. He wants us to live in eternity surrounded by the people we served. Jesus wants us to spend eternity with the people we blessed and the people who blessed us. Do not judge God by your expectations! Jesus wants to bless you with all the riches of His Kingdom! Put on the mind of Christ. Ask God to give you an ear to hear what He would say to you. Ask Jesus to open your eyes to the work He is doing in your life! Ask Jesus to give you an eternal perspective so you can be an eternal blessing to Him and other people! www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
