And He said, Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father. John 6:65 NKJV
Jesus told the disciples they must eat His flesh and drink His blood. It was a difficult teaching. Many of the disciples left. They stopped following Jesus. Are we to believe only certain people can be saved? Are people who were not chosen by God destined for hell? We were created to live in loving relationships. A relationship requires two or more persons coming together for a common purpose. A relationship can exist between a teacher and student. Jesus wants to have an intimate relationship with you today! The Lord wants to be involved in your daily life. Jesus wants you to be emotionally connected with Him. He wants you to have a teacher student relationship with Him. He wants to give you the wisdom and knowledge only people intimately connected with Jesus can receive! When Jesus said you must eat My flesh and drink my blood He was saying it must be Him who gives us life. It must be Him who sustains us. He must live in us and through us! Jesus did not want people who continued following Him to become puffed up with pride. He wanted them to know He is the author and finisher of our faith. They did not continue to follow Jesus because they were more spiritual. They were given the faith to continue following Jesus. Jesus opens our spiritual eyes. He gives us the faith to continue following Him even when the Great Teacher delivers a difficult lesson. Our relationship with Jesus does require our involvement just as any other relationship requires the involvement of both parties. Our part is to trust the Lord. Jesus is calling you to trust Him with your life today! God wants you to be obedient to Him even when you do not understand the difficult teachings that are so important to your walk of faith. The faith to obey the Lord when others do not is a byproduct of living in intimate relationship with the author and finisher of our faith. Do you desire to walk with the Lord today? Do you want to have an intimate relationship with Almighty God? If so rejoice! The Father has granted you 24/7 access to Him through faith in Jesus Christ! The Bread of Life that came down from heaven wants to give you His life so that you can live with Him forever! #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
