The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph’s authority, because the Lord was with him; and whatever he did, the Lord made it prosper. Genesis 39:23 NKJV
Joseph was wrongly accused of sexually assaulting his master’s wife. He was sent to Pharaoh’s royal prison. It is difficult to believe God was with Joseph. It is difficult to believe God was blessing Joseph. His situation went from bad to worse. And yet Joseph was placed in a soft prison for the rich and famous. Joseph managed the prison. How did the Egyptian officials feel about having a Hebrew slave in authority over them? Did they resent Joseph the way his brothers had? God was building Joseph’s character. Joseph became a man of integrity even when faced with hostility and resentment. Even when offered the passing pleasures of sin. Joseph learned to speak the truth regardless of his circumstances. Joseph learned to walk in the authority given to him by the One in authority over him. I was a real estate broker. I earned more money than I had ever made before. Since then my family and I lost our home. My car was repossessed. Our financial situation was so bad we were not sure how we would feed our family. The journey from financial success to failure was difficult. We were not alone. Many people experienced similar circumstances. Jesus wanted our attention. He wanted us to get our priorities in order. The Lord wanted us to rely on Him to meet our needs. He used the financial crises to mold and shape us into the people He created us to be. Jesus used the financial crises to save people! If we trust Jesus with our futures, needs and desires He will be with us as we navigate our way through life. One day we will see the Lord face to face. We will spend eternity with Him. There will be no more testing if we persevere and press on in faith today! I know the rest of the story. I have read the end of the book. God revealed what the future holds for people who call on the name of Jesus today. It will be an eternity of blessing in the presence of the one who is perfect in all His ways! I wrote this twelve years ago. The world is in crisis today. Pestilence hangs over the world like a dark cloud. The death toll is rising. A once bustling economy is shattered. People all over the world are unable to work. What can we do! Call out to Jesus for the strength to endure. Call out to Jesus for wisdom to draw near Him. Call out to Jesus for strength to walk in the authority He gave you to serve Him! Use the authority Jesus gave you to pray for God to end the pandemic of pestilence. Use the authority Jesus gave you to end the plague of fear! http://www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
