But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the one who lifts-up my head. I cried to the Lord with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill. Psalm 3:3-4 NKJV
God answered my cries for help many times because I turn to Him when I need help!
I know God is sovereign. I know He is in control of all things. I know God will bring about His good and perfect will for all things. God will prevail. When I cry out to God for help I know He can help me. And yet there are still times when I wonder if He will.
Jesus wants us to have thick skin and short memories. He wants us to have thick skin, so we are not easily discouraged. Short memories so we can forget our failures and mistakes. Each day can be a new beginning for us. Jesus is the God of new beginnings!
We should never forget the times God heard our cries. We should never forget the great things Jesus did in our lives. The same God who rescued the children of Israel at the Red Sea can rescue us today.
I could keep you up all night sharing the memories of the great and mighty things Jesus has done in my life. I love to relive the times He rescued me. God’s miraculous deeds are stored in my heart like great treasures!
I could tell you about the time God provided a meal for my family of five with 49 cents. I could tell you about the time God put gas in my car when we were stranded. God provided a place for my family to live even though I did not work for two years!
God rescued us when we were stranded in the desert. It was 115 degrees that day. My wife was terribly ill. Our car overheated. We asked the Lord to send help. I looked down a deserted stretch of highway. There were no cars in sight.
Within a few minutes a car came down the road. It stopped for us. The driver said he was a youth Pastor. He was on his way to the same city we were. He took us to our motel. He even carried our bags into the room.
My wife insists our Good Samaritan was an angel. I really do not have any way of knowing if he was or not. I do know Jesus heard our cry for help. I know Jesus provided the help we needed. I know Jesus intervened at a critical time in our lives.
From His holy hill God listens for the cries of His people. If you cry out to Jesus He will hear you before the words leave your mouth. Jesus wants to be your shield, your glory, and the lifter of your head in times of need and distress!
Years ago, I lay down my head in distress and sorrow. When I woke up the fear and hopelessness was gone. Jesus intervened at a critical time in my life. He encouraged me during the night. My circumstances did not change. My life has never been the same!
Jesus strengthens and encourages people who cry out to Him. Cry out to Jesus when you need help. Jesus will hear you. Jesus helps people who turn to Him for help!
