O Lord, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure. Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am week; O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled. My soul is greatly troubled; But You, O Lord-how long?
Return, O Lord, deliver Me! O, save me for Your mercies’ sake! For in death there is no remembrance of You; in the grave who will give you thanks? I am weary with my groaning; All night long I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears. My eye wastes away because of grief; It grows old because of all my enemies. Depart from me all you workers of iniquity; For the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping. The Lord has heard my supplication; The Lord will receive my prayer. Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled; Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly. Psalm 6 NKJV David offers up a prayer of faith during a time of illness and distress. My wife went to bed early. She has a serious illness. She is in severe pain. We have lived with one illness after another for many years. She has the health problems. My heart is broken. I am in distress. When someone we love suffers we experience a roller coaster ride of emotions. Our hearts break. Fear can lead to depression. We may lose patience, become resentful and grow angry. We may feel guilty when we recognize those feelings. Sometimes I cry out how long O Lord must we suffer? We should never try to stuff or hide our feelings and emotions. We should confess them, understand them and give them to Jesus! Illness is a form of opposition. Death is the final enemy. They are defeated foes. Jesus conquered them. We may suffer illness. We will die. We will not be defeated! Jesus Christ is a man acquainted with sorrows just as you and I are. He knows what a broken heart feels like. He knows anger. He also knows how much the Father loves us! God hears our cries when we groan in pain. He will not give us more suffering and hardship than our faith can endure. Jesus is with us when our resting places become drenched in sorrows and tears. God will not allow the voices of His witnesses to be silenced. All of us who love Jesus will raise our voices in thanksgiving and praise. We will outlive this fallen world! I wrote those words four years ago. The trials and hardship of illness have come and gone. Today we are rejoicing in prosperity of spirit. We do not know what tomorrow may bring. God does. We do know He will not give us anything our faith cannot endure! Raise your voice in thanksgiving and praise. God hears your weeping. God hears your prayer. He will answer. Jesus conquered sin and death. You are more than a conqueror through faith in the Risen Lord Jesus Christ! www.joyfor2day.com www.facebook.com/Joyfor2dayDailyDevotional https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
