“Many a time they have afflicted me from my youth,” Let Israel now say- “Many a time they afflicted me from my youth; Yet they have not prevailed against me. The plowers plowed on my back; They made their furrows long.” The Lord is righteous; He has cut in pieces the cords of the wicked. Psalm 129 NKJV
This thanksgiving Psalm is a song of victory over Israel’s enemies.
Since the day Israel left Egypt they were surrounded by enemies. From Pharaoh who sought to destroy them at the Red Sea to Hitler who tried to wipe them from the face of the earth Israel has been attacked and oppressed.
No other nation has experienced the persecution of Israel. Even today they are surrounded by enemies. The evil one lurks in the hearts of His people scheming and plotting how to destroy them. It will never happen!
God protects the people He chose to be His special possession!
The people of God have an enemy today. He is the same one who sought to destroy Israel in antiquity. He draws our children away from Jesus. He seeks their destruction. He works to silence us or draw us away from God but cannot destroy us!
Jesus protects people who turn to Him in faith today!
Let all those who hate Zion be put to shame and turned back. Let them be as the grass on the housetops, which withers before it grows up, With which the reaper does not fill his hand, Nor he who binds sheaves, his arms. Neither let those who pass by them say, “The blessings of the Lord be upon you in the name of the Lord. Vs 5-8
The devil does not cause all the evil in the world. God would have to take people out of the world to end the evil in it. All of us fall short of the glory of God.
There is a difference between people who sin (all of us) and sinners. A sinner is a person who opposes God in his or her heart.
People who oppose Jesus in their hearts will not prosper. They will not be eternally blessed. They will not inherit eternal life. And they will not afflict God’s people forever!
God gives us the freedom to choose. We can stand with Him and for Him in the power of the Holy Spirit or we can oppose Him. We can choose life or death.
The God of love and mercy wants us to stand with Him. Jesus keeps us on our feet. He wants us to choose life and receive it in abundance.
Jesus loves us. He wants to protect us. He wants to guide and direct us. He wants to bless us. Will you receive God’s love and protection today? Will you allow Him to lead you and guide into the eternal Home The Father is preparing for you?
