He will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. Micah 7:19 NKJV
The book of Micah was written to warn God’s people of coming judgment and to offer hope based on the mercy of God. I was reminded of the 911 attacks. I was still in bed when the phone rang that morning. My wife was leading our church prayer chain. We received a call to pray for our country. Our nation was under attack. We were at war! In the days that followed I heard people say God was judging our nation. People said God was pouring out His wrath on our country. I heard people say God was bringing the United States of America to its knees. People said it could be the beginning of the end for America. The United States of America has turned its back on God. We have taken God out of our classrooms. We have said in our hearts and public forums what God calls evil is good. We have rejected God’s authority by deciding for ourselves what is good and what is evil. It is the same sin committed by Adam and Eve. We deserve God’s judgment. We have become an ungodly nation! The people of Israel in Micah’s day deserved God’s judgment and wrath. God chose to forgive their sin. He chose to love them. God’s heart was for the people of Israel not against them! We do not know what the future holds for our nation. We do know God loves us! We know God wants to bless us. Jesus wants us to trust Him to teach us the difference between good and evil. Jesus wants us to trust Him to guide us and direct us as we navigate our way through life. If we incline our hearts to Jesus He will incline His heart toward us. If we draw near the Lord He will draw near to us! Pray for revival in the hearts of God’s people. Pray for revival in your community. Pray for revival in our nation and the world. Ask Jesus to put His desires in your heart so just as the prophets of old you can stand in the gap for His people. Stand in the gap for the people God loves today. Call on the Lord to show His compassion and mercy for His people. Ask the Lord to subdue our iniquity today. If you have put on a crown of sinful self-will or idolatrous self-glorification take it off. Cast it at the feet of Jesus. God has already cast your sin into the depths of the sea. The Lord will pour out His love and compassion on you! www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
