For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. Acts 1:5 NKJV
Jesus told His disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit to empower them. They obeyed the Lord. The disciples received the baptism of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. They spread the message of the gospel throughout the known world. God turned their world right side up! The Lord told me I would serve Him. He also said I had to pass through fire. I needed to be refined. I had not yet been tested in the cauldron of adversity. Years later I had a dream. I was in a king’s palace. I heard a voice say, “Now I know you are my friend.” God called Abraham His friend. Abraham was not perfect. He made mistakes. Abraham trusted God at times. He also failed to trust God at times. He failed to wait for God. He took matters into his own hands. God tested Abraham’s faith. Abraham passed the test! I am not perfect. I make mistakes. Sometimes I trust God. I wait for the Lord in faith. Sometimes I fail to wait for God. I take matters into my own hands. How about you? I have passed God’s test of faith. Have you? I am a friend of God. Are you? I have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. God has empowered me for service. Nothing is preventing me from serving Jesus. Is there anything preventing you from serving Jesus? The day of Pentecost was an amazing event. Jesus empowered His disciples to turn the world right side up. They went forth in the power of the Holy Spirit. They needed to seek God even after Pentecost. They needed to continue obeying and serving Jesus daily! I must continue to seek the Lord daily. I must make the decision to live for Christ today! Will you seek the Lord today? Will you live for Jesus today? We only get saved once. We receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit once. Our faith is put to the test every day. When we are tripped up by the little foxes that spoil the vine God wants us to get back up. Jesus wants us to follow Him with even more dependence on Him! I had an image of God the Father as a master craftsman. He was preparing a disciple for service. The Lord reached into His bag and took out a tool. I thought of myself as a pair of needle nose pliers. I do not know if you are a screwdriver or a monkey wrench in God’s tool chest. I do know Jesus wants to use you turn the world right side up! Jesus created you to be a useful tool in His mighty hands. Let Jesus use you today! http://www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
