There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1 NKJV
The instant we are restored to right relationship with God we become new creatures. Jesus takes up residence in our hearts. We are freed from the power of sin and death.
Before I met Jesus I was in bondage. I had many good qualities. I had a positive outlook on life. I was outgoing and adventurous. I expected good things to happen in my life. I was also addicted to drugs. For years I wanted to stop the madness. I could not!
Jesus delivered me from bondage in the time it took for my born-again heart to beat. In that instant when Jesus came into my life I was no longer a drug addict. Twenty-two years of drug addiction were deleted from God’s mind and my body.
Does being saved mean you and I will never sin again? No, it does not. It means we are no longer slaves to sin! We will sin again and again. Sin is anything that misses the mark of total perfection and submission to God’s will for our lives!
We may sin but we are no longer identified by our sins. We may sin but God does not enforce upon us the judgment He requires of sinners (death). We may sin but God imputes (assigns), the righteousness of Christ to us. We are hidden in Christ forever.
Jesus did not free us so we can return to the bondage of sin. Jesus set us free so we can serve the Lord and each other!
God has already made a way of escape for us when we are tempted. Our part is to trust Jesus by not willfully walking back into the snare of sin!
Jesus put all our sins, past, present and future, behind His back. Jesus did it so we would not be stuck in shame or frozen with fear. Jesus wants us to move forward one step of faith at a time!
If you are in bondage to sin Jesus wants to set you free today.
It does not matter what sin has ensnared you. It does not matter how long you have been caught up in sin. Jesus can set you free in the time it takes your born-again heart to beat once. Jesus can come into your life and make all things new today!
Jesus will put your sin behind His back never to be remembered again. Jesus will put you on a path that leads to eternal blessing.
What does God require of you today? He wants you to trust Jesus with your life. The Lord wants you to serve Jesus and the people all around you!
Starve your flesh. Deny your selfish desires. Seek Jesus with every breath you take and every beat of your heart. The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that awaits us in eternity!
