Is your confidence in the grace of God as strong as the God of grace?

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Psalm 23:5 NKJV

David’s confidence in the grace of God was as strong as the God of grace.

From one man who had the faith to believe God the Lord raised up a great nation. In a time of famine God led them to a land of plenty. When the nation God used to provide for His people turned against them the Lord led them into the land of promise.

When Israel cried out for a king God gave them a man after their own hearts. When the king filled his heart with pride God chose a man of humility. The Lord gave him victory over His enemies.

God’s enemies were David’s enemies. David never claimed victory in his own name. He never took hold of God’s glory. He fought Israel’s enemies all around in the strength and name of Almighty God. David fought for the Lord’s glory and honor!

The Jewish people have been despised throughout history. They have been surrounded by enemies on all sides. They have been attacked by armies more numerous time and time again. The Jewish people prosper. They prosper because God is with them!

God used David to mock His enemies. When David went out to meet Goliath the mighty giant said, “Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks? Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field.”

David replied, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of Hosts; the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.”

The boy who would grow into a man after God’s own heart mocked the giant by turning his threat against him. God anointed David to be king over His people. He blessed David. God gave David what he needed when he needed it to serve the Lord!

God wants to use you to mock His enemies today. God has anointed you to be a leader among His people today. It is Jesus who blesses you and gives you what you need when you need it to serve the Lord. Serve Jesus with the boldness that threatens His enemies!

You will never have to fight a giant man of war. You will face giant obstacles in your walk of faith. You will not have to face them alone. Jesus will give you victory so that all the earth will know there is a God in heaven.

Is your confidence in the grace of God as strong as the God of grace? It can be!

Fight your battle of faith in the strength and name of Jesus. Fight in faith for the glory and honor of Jesus!

Joyfor2day daily devotional goes out over the internet to thousands of people all over the world five days a week

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!

Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out that very hour. Acts 16:16-18 NKJV

The slave girl was speaking the truth. She was possessed by an evil spirit. The evil spirit was drawing people away from Christ!

This attack came as God’s servants went to prayer. The enemy of our souls attacks when we step out in faith. Satan seeks to distract us. He wants us to focus our attention on things other than Jesus.

The devil perverts the truth. He uses it against us. No one can serve two masters. This girl was speaking the truth about Paul and his companions while practicing witchcraft. When people claim to speak for God we must consider how they live.

The girl followed the disciples for several days before they cast the demon out of her. It is important for us to wait on the Lord before stepping out in faith. The bible tells us Paul was greatly annoyed by this girl. Paul was not fearful. The Lord was with Him!

Paul and Silas were put in jail. The owners of the slave girl were angry at the loss of income when the demon was cast out of her. While Paul and Silas were in jail they shared the gospel with the jailer. His entire household was saved.

God uses Satan’s attacks for His glory and our salvation!

Satan is a real being. He takes people captive to do his will. There really are demons who seek to destroy God’s people and bring destruction to our world.

We have nothing to fear from the devil or his demons when we live according to God’s will. We have nothing to fear from anyone or anything when we step out in faith to serve Jesus!

Jesus wants us to fear Him and Him alone. He wants us to know His power and authority are unequaled in all of creation.

God wants you share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people in your life. Jesus wants you to walk in great boldness because He is with you everywhere you go!

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!
