By faith Abraham obeyed when He was called to go out to the place which He would receive as an inheritance. And He went out, not knowing where He was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Therefore, from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore. Hebrews 11:8-12 NKJV
God told Abraham to leave his father’s house and go to a land the Lord would show him. Abraham obeyed even though He did not know where God would lead him. Abraham was raised among people who believed in many gods. God revealed Himself in such a way Abraham believed the Lord was different than the gods he grew up with. By faith Abraham believed the creator of all things spoke to Him. It was the revelation of who God is that gave Abraham the faith to obey. Abraham believed the Great I Am was the only resource he needed. Has God revealed Himself to you? Do you believe God is the only resource you need? The man of faith was not perfect. He failed to obey God on several occasions. The Lord used Abraham despite his failures. God used Abraham despite his mistakes. God did not give up on Abraham when he failed to obey. The Lord gave Abraham other opportunities to live by faith. Abraham did obey God. He did live by faith! You may have failed to obey God at times. You may have failed to step out in faith when the Lord called you. God can use you despite your failures. God can use you even though you have made mistakes. Jesus will give you new opportunities to obey Him. He will give new opportunities to live by faith. Jesus will never give up on you. God longs for the day when He will say to you; “Well done My good and faithful servant enter into My rest!” Look for opportunities to obey the Lord. Step out in faith when Jesus calls you! Abraham’s faith made him a friend of God! Faith in Jesus makes you a friend of God. Trust Jesus when His commands contradict your limited understanding. Trust Jesus when your strength fails. Follow Jesus even when you cannot see where He is leading! Be a friend of God. Jesus will lead you to places only His friends can go! http://www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
