Praise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Psalm 106 NKJV
This Psalm is about Israel’s rebellion and God’s mercy. Hymns and songs of praise could be written about our rebellions and God’s mercy today. There is great joy in God’s forgiveness of Israel’s sins. God’s forgiveness of our sin should fill our hearts with joy!
Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord? Who can declare all His praise? Blessed are those who keep justice, And he who does righteousness at all times! Vs 2 & 3
God has done great and mighty things since He created time matter and space. Who among our ancestors could have possibly declared His praise in sufficient measure?
If God opened up a scroll and declared all His mighty works we could not recite them. Our lives are simply too short. If all of God’s people gathered together in the same place we could not offer up the praise Jesus is worthy to receive!
People of great faith in biblical times struggled with the desires of their sinful nature. They did not always keep justice. They were not always righteous. God credited them with being righteous people of justice through faith in Him!
We can be declared righteous people of justice through faith in Jesus Christ!
People living in ancient Israel sinned just as their forefathers did. They did not remember the mighty works God performed in Egypt. They tested God and rebelled against His appointed leaders. They joined together with sinful people and followed their wicked ways when they arrived in the land of promise.
We have all sinned. We forget the work God did when He delivered us from the land of our unbelief. We backbite gossip and rebel against the people He appoints over us. We join together with unbelievers and follow their ways far too often!
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel From everlasting to everlasting! And let all the people say, Amen! Praise the Lord! Vs 48
God loved the Children of Israel. He blessed them when they chose to follow Him rather than the false God’s and idols of their time.
God loves you. He will bless you if you choose to follow Him rather than the false God’s and idols that seek our attention today.
Serve God by following Jesus. Turn your back on the practices of people who do not know Jesus. Give your heart to the Lord.
If you follow Jesus He will lead you into the Promised Land of eternal joy!
