If Jesus is all you need you will always have enough!

Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 1Timothy 6:6-7 NKJV

Godliness is living in relationship with Jesus. It is living according to God’s will. Godliness is allowing Jesus to form His life in us and live out His life through us.

The things that make us unique did not occur by random chance, accident or evolution. God created us just as we are. Jesus is in the process of molding us and shaping us into the people He created us to be.

We have all admired other people. We may have wished we could be like them. Some of us wish we were taller or thinner. Perhaps you wish you were smarter. Many of us wish we had more money. We could go on and on until we become bitter and resentful.

God created each of us in His image and likeness. He created us just as we are for a purpose and as part of His eternal plan. God wants us to be content with who we are and what we have. Jesus wants us to seek Him first before all other things.

Lust is never satisfied. It must be continually fed. If we set our hearts on the desire for just a little bit more a little bit more will never be enough. God wants us to set our hearts and desires on living a life of godliness!

The Lord does not expect us to be perfect. He does want us to have the desire to love Him perfectly. We do not have to live in fear of failing to live up to God’s expectations. Perfect love casts out fear. We are not perfect. God’s love for us is perfect!

Jesus wants us to learn to be content with what we have so we can focus on things of eternal value. God does not want us to be envious or resentful of people who have more than us. The desire to have more can bring about division among God’s people.

There was a time when I was in a booming industry surrounded by people who seemed to be on the way to fame and fortune. The economy went into a tailspin. My money grew wings and flew away. I was left with a mountain of debt and a damaged reputation.

All my work to achieve the American dream was a waste of time. The American dream is a myth invented by salesmen to induce buyers.

Nothing happens by random chance or accident. God freed me from the lust for just a little more. Jesus gave me the desire for more of Him. Jesus was all I ever needed.

If your set your heart on godliness you will discover the true riches of God’s kingdom. The love of God and peace that surpasses the wisdom of the wise and the circumstances of life cannot be earned. They can be yours through faith in a loving God who gives us what we need when we need it!

If God is all you need you will always have enough!

Joyfor2day daily devotional goes out over the internet to thousands of people all over the world five days a week

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!

Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out that very hour. Acts 16:16-18 NKJV

The slave girl was speaking the truth. She was possessed by an evil spirit. The evil spirit was drawing people away from Christ!

This attack came as God’s servants went to prayer. The enemy of our souls attacks when we step out in faith. Satan seeks to distract us. He wants us to focus our attention on things other than Jesus.

The devil perverts the truth. He uses it against us. No one can serve two masters. This girl was speaking the truth about Paul and his companions while practicing witchcraft. When people claim to speak for God we must consider how they live.

The girl followed the disciples for several days before they cast the demon out of her. It is important for us to wait on the Lord before stepping out in faith. The bible tells us Paul was greatly annoyed by this girl. Paul was not fearful. The Lord was with Him!

Paul and Silas were put in jail. The owners of the slave girl were angry at the loss of income when the demon was cast out of her. While Paul and Silas were in jail they shared the gospel with the jailer. His entire household was saved.

God uses Satan’s attacks for His glory and our salvation!

Satan is a real being. He takes people captive to do his will. There really are demons who seek to destroy God’s people and bring destruction to our world.

We have nothing to fear from the devil or his demons when we live according to God’s will. We have nothing to fear from anyone or anything when we step out in faith to serve Jesus!

Jesus wants us to fear Him and Him alone. He wants us to know His power and authority are unequaled in all of creation.

God wants you share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people in your life. Jesus wants you to walk in great boldness because He is with you everywhere you go!

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!
