How will you respond to God’s loving call?

“On my bed at night I sought him whom my soul loves; I sought him but did not find him. I must arise now and go about the city; In the streets and in the squares. I sought him but did not find him. The watchmen who make the rounds in the city found me. And I said have you seen him who my soul loves?
Scarcely had I left them when I found him who my soul loves; I held onto him and would not let him go until I had brought him to my mother’s house, and into the room of her who conceived me.” Song of Solomon 3:1-4 NASB

The Shulamite had a troubled night just before her wedding. In a dream she wandered the city searching for her beloved. When she found him she held on tight refusing to let go until she brought him into her home.

The young lover was profoundly affected by this event. Even if it was just a dream.

My heart was sick and sad. I started crying out to God. I did not know how to pray. I recited the Lord’s Prayer over and over again in bed. I asked Jesus to save my family. He answered that prayer. He did not do it the way I thought He would.

A short time later I bought a little trailer. I went to bed alone at night and woke up alone in the morning. Until the Lord intervened.

I woke up one morning feeling as if something incredible happened but I could not put my finger on exactly what it was. My spirit was revived. I had hope. My future was secure. My life would never be the same. What happened that night?

A few weeks later I came home and checked my answering machine. I heard a familiar voice. Could it be love? Had she searched me out and found me?

In 1976 I bought a ring for my girlfriend. I made one for me out of decorative wire. We stood before the Lord and asked Him to join us together in marriage. I did not honor that commitment. God did. Sixteen years later He brought us back together.

Love and romance filled my heart. I was introduced to a daughter I never knew. Jesus knocked at the door of my heart. He gave me the faith to answer. I began a love affair with the giver of life. It will never end!

What happened on that lonely night in my little trailer? I like to think my beloved searched me out. He found me in a dark and lonely place. He held onto me and refused to let go until He brought me home to His family!

The Great lover is searching for you today. He may be drawing you for the first time. He wants you to join Him in the greatest love affair the world has ever known. He may be calling you to reignite the passion of your first love. He will hold you tight and never let you go.

How will you respond to the Lord’s loving call? Will you grab a hold of His love? Will you refuse to let go until He takes you home? Jesus refuses to let go of you! The Lover of your soul will lead you into His Father’s House if you follow Him today!

Joyfor2day daily devotional goes out over the internet to thousands of people all over the world five days a week

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!

Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out that very hour. Acts 16:16-18 NKJV

The slave girl was speaking the truth. She was possessed by an evil spirit. The evil spirit was drawing people away from Christ!

This attack came as God’s servants went to prayer. The enemy of our souls attacks when we step out in faith. Satan seeks to distract us. He wants us to focus our attention on things other than Jesus.

The devil perverts the truth. He uses it against us. No one can serve two masters. This girl was speaking the truth about Paul and his companions while practicing witchcraft. When people claim to speak for God we must consider how they live.

The girl followed the disciples for several days before they cast the demon out of her. It is important for us to wait on the Lord before stepping out in faith. The bible tells us Paul was greatly annoyed by this girl. Paul was not fearful. The Lord was with Him!

Paul and Silas were put in jail. The owners of the slave girl were angry at the loss of income when the demon was cast out of her. While Paul and Silas were in jail they shared the gospel with the jailer. His entire household was saved.

God uses Satan’s attacks for His glory and our salvation!

Satan is a real being. He takes people captive to do his will. There really are demons who seek to destroy God’s people and bring destruction to our world.

We have nothing to fear from the devil or his demons when we live according to God’s will. We have nothing to fear from anyone or anything when we step out in faith to serve Jesus!

Jesus wants us to fear Him and Him alone. He wants us to know His power and authority are unequaled in all of creation.

God wants you share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people in your life. Jesus wants you to walk in great boldness because He is with you everywhere you go!

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!
