Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” Isaiah 6:8 NKJV God revealed Himself to Isaiah. Isaiah’s iniquity was taken away. His sin was purged. The Lord commissioned Isaiah as a prophet to the nation of Israel. In the shadow of God’s holiness Isaiah became aware of his sinfulness. Isaiah said “wow is me, for I am undone. Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell among a people of unclean lips, For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.” In the light of God’s holiness Isaiah saw the darkness of his heart. Isaiah expressed his unworthiness to speak for God. Why would the Lord use a soiled vessel to speak to such spoiled people? My son and I built an altar. It became my favorite place to pray and spend time with the Lord. One day as I came before the Lord He said, “Get your house in order. I will appoint you to the nations.” God revealed Himself to me. He forgave me of my sin. He continues to reveal the wickedness of my heart. Why would the Lord choose a wretch with such a sinful past to speak to people? Why would Jesus fill such a soiled and spoiled vessel with His Spirit? If we do not share the gospel with people who will? We are the people God has given the revelation of His Holiness. We are the people God has chosen to be His witnesses. We have unclean hands and lips. We live among people with unclean hearts. We live in a fallen world that is dominated by sin and evil! God did not choose Isaiah to speak to for Him because He was righteous. He did not choose Isaiah because He was worthy. Isaiah responded in faith. It was the revelation of God’s holiness that gave Isaiah the faith to serve the Lord! God wants us to put our lives in order so we can speak for Him. He knows we will struggle with our sinful desires. He wants us to respond in faith. In the revelation of God’s holiness we can discover the faith to serve Jesus! God is calling us to share the gospel with other people. He wants us to answer as Isaiah did. God is not looking for people who are good in their own eyes. God is searching for people who find their righteousness in Jesus. The Lord is looking for people who can humble themselves before Him. He is searching for people He can mold into the image of Jesus! How will you answer the Lord’s call? Will you step out in faith? Will you speak the Word of God to the people He created in His image and likeness? Will you share your testimony with a world that desperately needs Jesus? http://www.joyfor2day.com https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
