O Lord my God, in You I will put my trust; Save me from all those who persecute me; And deliver me, lest they tear me like a lion, Rending me in pieces, while there is none to deliver. Psalm 7:1-2 NKJV David declares His trust in God. He asks God to save him from enemies before they tear him to pieces. He also asks God to give his enemies victory over him if he sins. It is one thing to ask for God’s protection and blessing. We all do that. It is quite another thing to ask God to judge our sin. It takes an extreme amount of faith to petition the Lord for His correction and judgment! My favorite biblical characters are David the second king of Israel and Abigail, a woman who became one of his wives. I admire David for the great battles of faith he fought. When the first king of Israel wanted to kill David he refused to raise his hand against the Lord’s anointed. David knew he would eventually replace Saul as king. He refused to take matters into his own hands. He waited for the Lord to lift him up into God’s will for his life. David refused to take vengeance against a man who publicly humiliated him. He trusted the Hand of God’s correction. When God judged David he did not take a victim’s stance or charge the Lord with wrongdoing. He submitted to God’s just judgment. David’s trust in God was so strong and complete he could endure anything, why? David knew God’s love for him was unconditional. He knew God’s gifts and calling are irrevocable! Abigail was married to a man whose name means fool. His parents chose the perfect name for him. Abigail had a heart as beautiful as her outward appearance. Her humility and charm saved the lives of her entire household. Abigail refused to dishonor herself or God. She stayed faithful to her husband and the Lord despite his foolish ways. God rewarded her with a good and Godly husband when Nabal (Fool) died. Do you have the faith in Jesus to fight against your emotions and desires? Do you trust Jesus enough to stay faithful in your heart while you wait for the Lord to lift you up into His will for your life? If you are a woman of quality and inner beauty married to a man who lacks wisdom and prudence will you honor your commitment to Jesus? Will you wait in faith as God transforms him degree by degree into a man of Godly character? Don’t take matters into your own hands. Wait for Jesus to lift you up into His will for your life. Stay faithful to the Lord in your heart. Honor your commitment to live by faith in Jesus. Your gifts and calling are irrevocable. God’s love for you is unconditional! www.joyfor2day.com www.facebook.com/Joyfor2dayDailyDevotional https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
