Hear my prayer, O Lord, Give ear to my supplications! In Your faithfulness answer me, And in Your righteousness. Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, For in Your sight no one living is righteous. Psalm 143 NKJV
David prays for support and guidance. Do you?
David calls upon the Lord to hear his prayer. He asks God to hear his request. David does not come before the Lord in his own righteousness or faithfulness. His prayer is based on God’s righteousness and faithfulness!
David asked the Lord not to judge him for his sins past present and future. David knew all people sin and fall short of the glory of God!
Our relationship with God is based on His righteousness, forgiveness and grace. Not anything we could do in our own strength and wisdom.
We could never achieve righteousness on our own. We could never turn far enough away from sin to deserve God’s forgiveness. We could never ingratiate ourselves to the Lord enough to earn His grace!
We can receive the priceless gifts of God by asking Him to hear our prayer. We can ask Him to incline His ear to the cry of our hearts. We can come before Jesus based on His righteous and not be judged for our sinfulness.
Faith is not receiving something we deserve. It is not predicting an outcome based on what we can see, hear, and touch. Faith is trusting in an unseen God completely regardless of our sins, fears, failures and doubts!
It has been said courage is not the absence of fear. It is doing what must be done regardless of fear. The same principle applies to faith. Faith is a choice. It is an act of the will. It is not the absence of doubt!
The Lord tells us to be strong and courageous because we have the freedom to be strong and courageous. He tells us not to be fearful because we have the freedom to choose faith over fear!
Revive me, O Lord, for Your names sake! For Your righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble. Vs 11
