For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5 NKJV
God does get angry. He judges sin. He will pour out His wrath upon people who reject His authority over creation. God is Holy. The Lord requires Holiness from His beloved. God is not a man. His fierce anger does not distort His perfect wisdom!
Everything God has done and will do passes through the filter of His great love for His creation. You are Almighty God’s greatest creation. You are His Masterpiece!
When God judges, pours out His wrath, disciplines the people He loves and punishes the disobedient He does it because of His great love for us. God loves you. There is nothing the Lord will not do for you!
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness. Vs 11
David was not perfect. He made mistakes. He was a man after God’s heart. He was not divine or superhuman. David leaned on the arm of flesh. He trusted in his own power and resources. He sinned. God judged him. The Children of Israel suffered for his sin.
God was angry with David. He never stopped loving David. David’s greatest sins were still ahead of him. So were his greatest blessings!
This is a psalm of thanksgiving. David acknowledges God’s deliverance. He calls on his people to praise God for turning their mourning into dancing!
After years of walking with God I turned to the arm of flesh. I trusted in my own strength and resources. When the bubble burst so did the illusion of wisdom and wealth. God humbled me. I was humiliated. My family suffered.
My sin sent shock waves through my family. The ripples touched everyone I love. We walked through the valley of the shadow of death. It was a dark and dreary journey!
God led us into greener pastures. He planted us by still waters. We know sins failures and mistakes will still plague us. But our greatest blessings are still ahead of us!
God does not excuse or condone sin. He does look deep into our hearts for the repentance He demands. He looks for people who can get back up and follow Him with even greater reliance obedience and trust when they have been humbled!
You’ve sinned. You’ve made mistakes. You may have suffered for them. The cycle may repeat itself. Repent and get back up when you’ve been humbled.
Follow Jesus with greater reliance obedience and trust than ever before. The Lord will lead into greener pastures. Jesus will plant you beside still waters. Jesus will turn your mourning into dancing when He arises with healing in His wings!
