But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham! So he said, “Here I am.” And He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.” Genesis 22:11-12 NKJV
God tested Abraham saying, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”
God does not test us with evil. God does not lead us into sin. The Lord does call us to place Him first before all other people and all other things!
Abraham gathered everything he needed for a burnt offering. Abraham called his son and young men together. The Lord led them to an unknown mountain to do something Abraham did not understand. Abraham acted in faith.
The Lord calls us to obey Him by in faith today! Jesus calls us to do things we do not understand today!
God calls us to obey His Word even when people call us religious fanatics and accuse us of discrimination. He calls us to leave when we get involved in ungodly relationships. The Lord calls us to obey Him when our feelings and emotions contradict His commands.
God looked at Abraham’s heart and saw that he trusted God enough to obey His commands even when he did not understand them. The Lord saw that Abraham feared God more than he loved anyone or anything!
God is revealing His loving heart to us today. Our Heavenly Father wants us to know He is willing to give much more than He requires of us. Our Heavenly Father would never ask us to harm our beloved children. The Lord sacrificed His beloved Son for us!
Abraham is the father of all who believe. You can be a father to people who believe!
You can lead other people to the cross of Christ through faith in Jesus. You can lead by trusting God more than you desire the praise of people. You can lead people to Jesus by obeying the Word of God!
What will the Lord see when He looks at your heart?
Will the Lord see someone who fears God more than pain and heartbreak? Will He see a person who trusts God more than the laws of science and nature? Will He see a person who trusts God with the things you love the most?
Our world is rocked by disease and death. Future forecasts are creating chaos and fear. Are isolation and hibernation the answer? No, they are not, Jesus is the answer!
We can live an abundant life of peace and prosperity of spirit today and throughout eternity. Will you trust Jesus enough to live for Him today?
