The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. For the needy shall not always be forgotten; the expectation of the poor shall not perish forever. Psalm 9:17-18 NKJV
David praises God for His justice. He exhorts other people to praise the Lord.
There was wickedness in David’s heart when he lusted after Bathsheba. David sinned when he summoned Bathsheba to have sex with him.
Sending Bathsheba’s husband into battle and ordering his men to leave him alone to face Israel’s enemies was a great act of wickedness. Abusing the authority God gave him to feed his sinful nature was a great offense before the Lord, it was wickedness!
David is not counted among the wicked. He is described as the man with a heart after God’s own, why? David loved God. When David sinned he repented. David’s greatest desire was to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of his life. He is there today!
Who are the wicked people so often mentioned in the bible?
Wicked people lived as though God did not exist or actively opposed the Lord. Some of them were the enemies of God’s people. Others put their own interests before the commands of God without ever repenting!
There are people who live as though God does not exist today. Some of them scoff and scorn at truth. They do not believe God legislates morality and the affairs of man. They lash out at anything that prevents them from living as they wish.
Wicked people refuse to accept that a God who rules over them loves them intentionally unconditionally and eternally! God loves all people. He always has!
The Lord must separate people who love Him from those who oppose Him and rebel against His authority. People are easily influenced and led astray. God does not want anyone to suffer eternal separation from Him.
God will allow people and nations who choose wickedness over righteousness to make their own choices. He will also limit their influence and power over others!
Jesus will not forget people who recognize their need for Him. They will be clothed with righteousness. God will not forget people who are poor in spirit. They will be fed in plenty. He will not forget people who serve Him they will receive imperishable rewards!
God gives us the freedom to live in wickedness or righteousness. Almighty God judges the wicked by turning them over to their own desires. The Father of lights remembers the needy and gives hope to the poor. Jesus is the hope of humanity!
Remember the Lord. He will never forget you!
