Why do You stand afar off, Lord? Why do You hide in times of trouble? Psalm 10:1 NKJV
David complains to God about the pride of wicked people. He also sings of his confidence in God’s triumph over evil. This song reveals David’s struggle of faith. It begins with David complaining to God about the pride of wicked people. It ends with David declaring God’s sovereignty and the Lord’s justice for the humble needy and poor in spirit. The world was a dangerous place. Israel was surrounded by enemies. Raiders swarmed down on travelers in the wilderness. Evil people willing and able to kill for profit lurked in the shadows of large cities. Orphans widows and the poor were easily and often abused. The world is a dangerous place today. I took my son shopping. We passed a crime scene where a man was murdered. When I took my son home the street was blocked off. A swat team assault vehicle was on the street. A police offer was sitting at a gun turret. I felt like our city was under siege. Evil and suffering is a common barrier to unbelief. People wonder why a loving God allows horrible things to happen. God is not the source of evil and suffering in the world, people are. God could put an end to it, why doesn’t He? For God to end all the evil and suffering in the world He would have to remove people from it. God does not remove people from the world because He is longsuffering and patient. God is waiting for people who will choose to live by faith in Jesus Christ. He is waiting to punish the wickedness and evil that plagues His people. He will not wait forever! Jesus is not afar off God! Jesus is near enough to know when you choose to follow Him. He is near enough to see the repentance in your heart when you turn to Him. He is near enough to hear when you intercede for your friends, neighbors and family members! Jesus is not hiding. He is with you today. He will answer your petition with wisdom and compassion. He will intercede at the perfect time! Make music to Jesus in your heart. Sing a song of confidence in God’s triumph over evil! www.joyfor2day.com www.facebook.com/Joyfor2dayDailyDevotional https://twitter.com/JoyFor2day #Joyfor2daydailydevotional
