Fight the good fight of faith by taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ!

O LORD, God of my salvation, I have cried out day and night before You. Let my prayer come before You; Incline Your ear to my cry. Psalm 88 NKJV

In this dark Psalm the author described the calamities that threatened his life. He began by declaring the Lord is the God of his salvation. He cried out to the Lord in faith. He believed God heard his prayer. He worshipped feared and trusted God. Why is the Psalm so dark?

The bible instructs us to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Jesus wants us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. He wants us to be the proof of the good and acceptable perfect will of God.

The Christian life is described as both a race and a fight. We complete the race that is set before us and win the good fight of faith on the battle field of our minds!

I enlisted in the Marines. Our first run was four laps around a track at our own pace. Half way around the track I started walking. A drill instructed yelled at me. He said I would never make it through boot camp. He said I would be sent home in disgrace.

Three months later I ran 9.3 miles. I enjoyed every second of that run. What changed?

I trained my body. I took control of my thought life. But it was Jesus who got me though boot camp. It was Jesus who healed my body from years of drug and alcohol abuse. Jesus trained my mind and body for physical and spiritual warfare!

For my soul is full of troubles, And my life draws near the grave. I am counted with those who go down to the pit; I am like a man who has no strength, Adrift among the dead, Like the slain who lie in the grave, Whom you remember no more, And who are cut off from Your hand. Vs 3-5

The Psalmist never appears to remember the Lord. He does not come back from the brink of despair. Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we respond to it. Jesus is 100% for us. He never forgets us. Jesus will never leave us or turn His back on us!

Be transformed by renewing of your mind. Jesus is the God of your salvation. You can cry out to Him in prayer. Jesus will incline His ear to hear your prayer. Jesus is for you and not against you. Jesus will never ever leave you or turn His back on you!

Maybe you feel like you are losing the spiritual battle to complete the race Jesus set before you. Maybe the darkness of despair has come upon you. Do not camp there. The Lord Jesus Christ is with you on your walk of faith. He will fight your battles for you!

Look up when the darkness of despair descends upon you. Remember the Lord high and lifted-up. The train of His robe covers all of creation. The is no power of darkness that can prosper in opposition to Him. The Lord is righteous and holy and good in all His ways and He loves you!

Take your thoughts captive to the obedience to Christ. Jesus will train you to fight the spiritual war that is raging all around!

Joyfor2day daily devotional goes out over the internet to thousands of people all over the world five days a week

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!

Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out that very hour. Acts 16:16-18 NKJV

The slave girl was speaking the truth. She was possessed by an evil spirit. The evil spirit was drawing people away from Christ!

This attack came as God’s servants went to prayer. The enemy of our souls attacks when we step out in faith. Satan seeks to distract us. He wants us to focus our attention on things other than Jesus.

The devil perverts the truth. He uses it against us. No one can serve two masters. This girl was speaking the truth about Paul and his companions while practicing witchcraft. When people claim to speak for God we must consider how they live.

The girl followed the disciples for several days before they cast the demon out of her. It is important for us to wait on the Lord before stepping out in faith. The bible tells us Paul was greatly annoyed by this girl. Paul was not fearful. The Lord was with Him!

Paul and Silas were put in jail. The owners of the slave girl were angry at the loss of income when the demon was cast out of her. While Paul and Silas were in jail they shared the gospel with the jailer. His entire household was saved.

God uses Satan’s attacks for His glory and our salvation!

Satan is a real being. He takes people captive to do his will. There really are demons who seek to destroy God’s people and bring destruction to our world.

We have nothing to fear from the devil or his demons when we live according to God’s will. We have nothing to fear from anyone or anything when we step out in faith to serve Jesus!

Jesus wants us to fear Him and Him alone. He wants us to know His power and authority are unequaled in all of creation.

God wants you share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people in your life. Jesus wants you to walk in great boldness because He is with you everywhere you go!

Jesus can use you to shake the foundations of the prison and set people free!
